I need some help. The recommended yarn is no longer in available and can be replaced with Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk (nr 29). I need your help to tell me how much yarn to order for size M. There is also one other yarn to the elastic and also this one is not available. Which should you recommend me to that? The beginner Eva

Hi Eva. You can use our YARN CONVERTER (to the right for the photos) and fill in information. (or use 150 g DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk BUT use 2 threads and for the Cotton Viscose you ca use 50 g DROPS Alpaca (1 thread). Happy Knitting!

Hi. Posted a question about guage size which you just answered a few mins ago. My question was actually what needles of the two used to knit gauge swatch with? “ Dear Una, the larger needles are the 5mm needles for Cotton Viscose or the 9 mm needles for Vienna/Melody. Happy knitting! 19.06.2022 kl. 16:49”. Could you specify which needles?
19.06.2022 - 17:08DROPS Design answered:
Dear Una, use needle size 9 mm for Melody: 10sts x 12 rows with needle size 9 and stocking sts = 10 x 10cm and use needle size 5 mm for Cotton Viscose (or alternative): 17sts x 22 rows with needle size 5 and double thread and stocking sts = 10 x 10cm. Can this help or do I misunderstand your request? Happy knitting!

Hi! Could I substitute kidsilk/mohair bu Drops and still following the pattern? I’m always unclear about substituting yarns
19.05.2022 - 18:02DROPS Design answered:
Hi Una, As long as the yarns come from the same yarn group, they can replace each other. It is always wise to work a swatch before beginning to check the knitting tension. Happy crafting!

World knits has a handy knitting calculator for increases and decreases evenly across your work. For this pattern I just Googled "decreasing 72 sts over 176 when do I decrease" and it popped up as the first search result.

Bon tricot!

Unclear to me whether to keep going with the cotton viscose once I start using Vienna. Thank you for you for a speedy answer.
05.08.2021 - 16:24DROPS Design answered:
Dear Nelly, Cotton Viscose is only used to make the cast ons and finishing more stable. after the cast on use the Vienna (or the Melody) by itself (the 50 grams Cotton Viscose given in teh materials would not be anough for much else). Happy Stitching!
