I liked using the regular moss stitch mote, where you change every two rounds instead of one. Also I did the decrease rounds continuing the pattern, because i didn't like the lines it left. I just did 2 dec next to each other so it stayed the same 1:1 pattern

Garter st, back and forth on needle: K all rows. Moss st: Row 1: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-* and finish with K1. Row 2: P over K and K over P. Repeat row 2. Measurement tip: Because of the weight of the yarn, all measurements should be made whilst the garment is hanging, otherwise it will be too long when worn. Shoulder warmer / balaclava: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 266-280 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with Symphony. K 1 round and continue in rib, K1/P1. When rib measures approx 3 cm K 1 round, at the same time inc 1 st on round = 267-281 sts. Now continue in moss st – see above – until piece measures 10-12 cm. Remember the knitting tension! K 1 round, at the same time dec 34-38 sts evenly = 233-243 sts. Continue in moss st until piece measures 14-16 cm. K 1 round, at the same time dec 31-31 sts evenly = 202-212 sts. Continue in moss st until piece measures 19-21 cm. K 1 round, at the same time dec 31-31 sts evenly = 171-181 sts. Continue in moss st until piece measures 24-26 cm. K 1 round, at the same time dec 31-31 sts evenly = 140-150 sts. Continue in moss st until piece measures 28-30 cm. K 1 round, at the same time dec 31-31 sts evenly = 109-119 m. Continue in moss st until piece measures 32-34 cm. K 1 round, at the same time dec 34-32 sts evenly = 75-87 m. Insert 1 Marking Thread (MT) at beg of round (= mid side), and now measure piece from here. Continue in moss st until piece measures 12 cm from MT. K 1 round, at the same time inc 22 sts evenly = 97-109 m. On next round slip the first 17-19 sts (= mid front) on a stitch holder and continue back and forth on needle from mid front = 80-90 sts on row. Continue in moss st until piece measures 38-40 cm from MT (adjust so that next row is from RS). Now divide the piece mid back and work next row as follows: work 40-45 moss st, turn piece. Now continue back and forth on needle from mid back on the 40-45 sts, at the same time dec to shape the neckline towards mid back on every other row: 2 sts 3 times and 4 sts 1 times = 30-35 sts left on row. Work 2 rows garter st and cast off. Work the other side in the same way. Assembly: Sew hood tog at top, with the 2 rows garter st sitting nicely against each other. Rib border: Pick up 130-142 sts (incl sts on stitch holder at front) on needle size 4 mm with Symphony round the opening at the front. P 1 round, K 1 round and continue in rib, K1/P1. When rib measures approx 6 cm K 1 round and cast off loosely Assembly: Fold rib double towards WS and fasten. |
