The chest measurements for this pattern do not seem to take the overlap of the fronts into account. My chest is about 40.5" and I knit this to 42", but I can barely close the top button and cannot close the bottom one. You need to choose a measurement that is probably at least 4" larger than your chest to be able to get the proper fit. It would certainly be helpful if this was reflected in the pattern.

Knitting tension: . 20 sts x 26 rows in stocking sts and Karisma = 10 x 10 cm. Pattern: See diagram M.1. The diagram is shown from the RS. Crochet tips: Steam the garment before crochet. Make sure the crochet edge do not pull or expand the edge. Back piece: Cast on 69-77-85-93-101-109 sts (incl. 1 edge st each side) on needles size 4.5 mm with Karisma. Knit 2 rows of garter sts. Continue with M.1 and 1 edge st each side. When the piece measures 4 cm inc. 1 st each side on every 3½-3½-4-3½-3-2½ cm a total of 4-4-4-5-6-7 times – incorporate new sts into pattern as going along = 77-85-93-103-113-123 sts. When the piece measures 18-19-20-21-22-23 cm cast off for arm holes each side on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 0-1-2-4-6-8 times and 1 sts 1-2-3-3-3-3 times = 69-71-73-75-77-79 sts. Now cast off 2 sts each side until the piece measures 56-56-57-57-58-58 cm, then cast off each side 4 sts 1 time. Cast off remaining sts when the piece measures approx. 57-57-58-58-59-59 cm. Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew in the sleeves and sew the side and the sleeve seams inside 1 edge st. Crochet edge: Read Crochet tips! Crochet with Karisma on hook size 4mm around all of the back and front pieces – begin at the mid back at the nape neck - Crochet as follows: 1 dc, * 1 ch, skip approx. 1 cm, 1 dc in the following sts/row *, repeat from *-* along all of the neck line and the bottom edge of the back and front pieces, crochet back until the mid back of the nape of the neck (make sure the number of ch-loops are divisible with 8). Now crochet with hook size 7 mm and Snow as follows: Begin at the mid back at the nape of the neck. Crochet * 1 dc in the first ch, skip 3 ch, crochet 5 tr in the next ch, skip 3 ch *, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 sl st in the dc from beg. of round. Sleeve: Begin mid underneath the sleeve. Crochet on hook size 4 mm with karisma around the bottom edge of the sleeves the same way as crochet around the back and front pieces. Continue to crochet with Snow on hook size 7 mm as follows: Crochet 1 dc in the first ch, * 1 ch, skip 1 ch, 1 dc in the next ch*, repeat from *-* around the whole edge of the sleeve and finish with 1 sl st in the dc at beg. of round. |
