Buon lavoro!!

Thank you for those dimensions - I see now that they were included in the pattern except for the length of the strap. I am almost finished with the purse and I love it. I made it in a cream colored cotton and attached the bag to the strap with silver rings on each side (I made a straight strap rather than tapered as shown in the pattern). Once again, a great Drops crochet design - thank you !!

I am making this bag now. What are the dimensions of the bag supposed to be - how long is it and how high high is it without the strap ? Also how long is the strap ? Every Drops pattern I have made turns out beautifully so I hope this one will too !
17.07.2013 - 01:31DROPS Design answered:
Dear Kat, the bag in Muskat is approx. 21 cm wide and the one in Vienna approx. 23 cm wide. The Popcorn pattern (part working straight) is 9 cm high, and straps are 20 cm high. Happy crocheting!

Instructions «Popcorn-pattern»: With hook size 3.5 mm. Round 1: 3 chain stitches, 3 treble crochets in the same stitch, remove the hook from the loop, insert it in the first treble crochet (the last of the 3 chain stitches), then in the loop from the last treble crochet, make a yarn over and pull the strand through both loops on the hook (= 1 popcorn), * 2 chain stitches, skip 2 double crochets, 4 treble crochets in the next double crochet, work a popcorn as described above *, repeat from *-*, finish with 2 chain stitches and 1 slip stitch in the first popcorn. Round 2: * 1 double crochet in the popcorn, 2 double crochets around the chain-space *, repeat from *-*, finish with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet. Repeat rounds 1 and 2. Bag: The bottom of the bag is worked first, then the sides. Work a row of 18 chain stitches with hook size 3.5 mm. Round 1: Work double crochets along the one side of the chain-stitch row – in the first chain stitch work 2 double crochets, then 1 double crochet in the next 16 chain stitches and 4 double crochets in the last chain stitch – insert 1 marker thread in the middle of these last 4 double crochets = side, work back along the other side of the chain-stitch row with 1 double crochet in each of the first 16 chain stitches, finish with 2 double crochets in the first chain stitch, so there are now 4 double crochets in this stitch - insert 1 marker thread in the middle of these 4 double crochets = side. There are 40 double crochets on the round. Round 2 and further rounds: Work 1 double crochet in each double crochet from the previous round, but in the 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads work 2 double crochets – 4 double crochets increased on each round. Work 11 rounds = 84 double crochets. Work 4 more rounds with double crochets, but without further increases. Continue the «Popcorn-pattern» - see explanation above. Continue until the popcorn section measures approx. 9 cm. Work 3 more rounds of double crochets. Now work the straps. First strap: Work double crochets back and forth over 32 stitches on the one side (16 stitches on each side of the marker thread) – work 1 less stitch at the end of each row until there are 8 stitches left, continue working until the strap measures 20 cm, or to desired length. Second strap: Work in the same way as the first strap, over 32 stitches on the other side. Assembly: Work the straps together at the top with double crochets. Optional: Sew sequins around the top of the bag, just above the popcorn-pattern. |
