Knitting tension: 14 stitches x 26 rows with needle size 4 mm and stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm. (20 stitches x 32 rows with needle size 2.5 mm and stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.) Remember needle size is just a guide! NOTE! To maintain the knitting tension it can help to purl twisted instead of purl - or every 2nd or 4th row is worked with twisted purl. Double Moss stitch: * Row 1: K 1, P1. Row 2: Knit over knit and purl over purl. Row 3: Purl over knit and knit over purl. Row 4: Purl over purl and knit over knit. * Repeat rows 1 - 4. Back piece: The jacket is worked back and forth with circular needle. Cast on 76-84 (108-120) stitches + 2 stitches (= 1 edge stitch in each side) with circular needle size 4 (2.5) mm and yellow (mustard) and work double moss stitch for 3 cm. Continue with stocking stitch. At the same time decrease in each side 1 stitch x 4-6 (5-9) on S/M: Every 3rd row (alternately every 2nd and 3rd row), M/L: Every 3rd row (2nd row) = 68-72 (98-102) stitches + 2 stitches. Remember the knitting tension. When piece measures 8-10 (8-10) cm increase in each side every 18th-10th (22nd-8th) row: 1 stitch x 2-3 (2-5) (start the first increase after row 18-10 (22-8)). At the same time when piece measures 25-30 (25-30) cm cast off 3 stitches in each side for armhole = 68-74 (98-108) stitches. Continue to cast off for armhole every 2nd row: 2 stitches x 1-2 (2-3), 1 stitch x 2-2 (2-4) = 60-62 (86-88) stitches. When piece measures 48-53 (48-53) cm cast off the middle 16-16 (24-24) stitches for neck. Then cast off 2 stitches in each side on the next row towards neck. Cast off when piece measures 50-55 (50-55) cm. Left front piece: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle. Cast on 31-33 (44-47) stitches + 1 stitch (= edge stitch in side) with circular needle size 4 (2.5) mm and yellow (mustard) and work double moss stitch, at the same time as you increase towards mid front: 1 stitch x 7-9 (10-13) every 2nd row (alternately every and every 2nd row) = 38-42 (54-60) stitches + 1 stitch - but when piece measures 3 cm work the outermost 5 (7) stitches towards mid front in double moss stitch (= band) and the remaining stitches are worked in stocking stitch, cast off and increase in side as for back piece. Remember knitting tension. At the same time when piece measures 15-17 (15-17) cm work collar towards mid front as follows: (Increase to collar at the same time as you decrease for neck): Decrease inside the 5 (7) band stitches every 15th-15th (12th-12th) row: 1 stitch x 5-5 (7-7), increase on inside of the outermost stitch every 6th-6th (5th-5th) row: 1 stitch x 7-7 (10-10). The increased stitches are worked into the double moss stitch as you go. At the same time when piece measures 25-30 (25-30) cm cast off 3 stitches in side for armhole. Then cast off for armhole as for back piece = 32-33 (46-47) stitches on needle when decreases/increases to collar and casting off to armhole are finished. When piece measures 50-55 (50-55) cm cast off 20-21 (29-30) stitches from shoulder towards neck. Continue to work double moss stitch upwards on the remaining 12-12 (17-17) stitches (= collar over back piece) for 8 cm, cast off. Right front piece: Cast on and work as for left front piece but work buttonhole when piece measures 7-9 (7-9) cm, 14-16 (14-16) cm and 21-23 (21-23) cm as follows: Cast off stitches 3 and 4 (3, 4 and 5) from edge and cast on 2 (3) new stitches over the cast off stitches on next row. The last buttonhole is worked in the same way as the others, but is worked on the "old" band-i.e. all the increased stitches towards mid front are worked on the outside of the "band". Sleeve: The sleeve is worked back and forth with circular needle as chenille yarn has a tendency to twist when worked in the round! Cast on 34-34 (48-48) stitches (incl. 2 edge stitches for seam) with circular needle size 4 (2.5) mm and yellow (mustard) and work 4 (4) cm double moss stitch. Then work stocking stitch upwards, at the same time as you increase in each side: 1 stitch x 19-19 (27-27) on alternately every 5th and 6th row (every 4th and 5th row) = 72-72 (102-102) stitches. When piece measures 46,5-46,5 (46,5-46,5) cm cast off in each side for sleeve cap on every 2nd row: 3 stitches x 1, 2-2 (3-2) stitches x 7-8 (10-11), 3-3 (3-4) stitches x 2-2 (1-2), cast off. The piece measures approx. 54-55 (54-55) cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew collar together mid back and sew collar to neck along back. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve seams and side seams in one go. Crochet edge: Work a row of double crochets from right side around all edges with hook size 4 (2.5) mm. Then work a row of double crochets in opposite direction, i.e. from left to right without turning piece (lobster stitch). Work double crochets from right side in each double crochet from previous row. Sew on buttons. |
