Hei!

04.01.2022 - 00:02DROPS Design answered:
Hei Hanne.

Hello, When reach the mark where you continue the stripe pattern until piece measures 5-1/2 inches, is the the size of the diameter of the hat or the Len the from the magic circle to the edge? Also, my hat appears to be just a round circle, is that right? Thank you so much! Barbara
02.11.2020 - 03:29DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Goldstein, the 5 1/2 inches are measured from the beginning of piece (from top down), not sure what you mean with "round circle", hat is worked in the round from the top down, you first increase until you get the correct number of sts for the circumference of head, then work straight (no increase anymore) until you reach the appropriate length. Hope this helps. Happy crocheting!

CROCHET TIP: Beg every dc round with 1 ch (this does NOT replace first dc) and finish with 1 sl st in first dc from beg of round. Work every round alternately from RS and WS. STRIPE PATTERN: * Work 6 rounds dc with light steel blue, then 6 rounds dc with off white *, repeat from *-*. DECREASE TIP: Dec 1 dc by working 2 sts tog. This is done as follows: Insert hook in first st and pull yarn through, insert hook in next st and pull yarn through, make 1 YO and pull yarn through all 3 sts on hook. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Work top down and work alternately from RS and WS, i.e. turn piece after every finishing round. Work 4 ch with light steel blue on hook size 3 mm and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. READ CROCHET TIP! Work STRIPE PATTERN as explained above. Rounds start mid back. ROUND 1: Work 7 dc in ch-ring. ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc = 14 dc. ROUND 3: * Work 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 21 dc. ROUND 4: * Work 1 dc in each of the first 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 28 dc. ROUND 5: Work * 1 dc in each of the first 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 35 dc. Continue inc the same way, i.e. there is 1 dc more for every time 2 dc are worked in 1 st, until there are 98-98-105 (112-119) dc on round. Then work 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME inc 0-4-3 (2-1) dc evenly = 98-102-108 (114-120) dc. Continue with 1 dc in every dc and stripe pattern until piece measures 13-14-15 (16-17) cm – finish after 6 rounds with light steel blue, fasten off. Then work ear flaps. EAR FLAP: Work entire ear flap in light steel blue. Count 10-10-10 (11-11) dc from mid back - beg here. Work 1 dc in each of the next 25-25-27 (28-30) dc. Turn piece with 1 ch and work 1 dc in every dc. Continue like this until 4-4-6 (6-8) rows have been worked. On next row dec 1 dc at beg and end by working the 2 first and last dc tog – READ DECREASE TIP! Repeat dec every other row 2 more times (= 3 dec in total) and then every row 5-5-6 (6-7) times in total = 9-9-9 (10-10) dc remain, fasten off. Work another ear flap the same way in the other side, there should be 20-20-20 (22-22) dc between ear flaps mid back and 28-32-34 (36-38) dc between ear flaps mid front. FINISHING EDGE + TIE: Work with off white - beg mid back. Work 1 round with 1 dc + 1 ch around the entire hat incl ear flaps, but on the middle of each ear flap work 1 tie as follows: Work loose ch for approx. 25-25-30 (30-35) cm, turn and work 1 dc in every ch back (beg in 2nd ch from hook). Finish with 1 sl st in first dc from beg of round mid back, fasten off. |
