Pattern: See diagram M.1 and M.2. Diagram shows the pattern from the RS. Buttonholes: Cast off for buttonholes on right front band. 1 buttonhole = cast off 4th st from mid front and cast on 1 new st on return row. Cast off for buttonholes when piece measures: Size S: 7, 15, 23, 31, 40 and 49 cm. Size M: 7, 15, 24, 33, 42 and 51 cm Size L: 7, 14, 22, 30, 38, 46 and 53 cm. Size XL: 7, 14, 22, 30, 38, 46 and 54 cm. Size XXL: 7, 15, 23, 31, 39, 47 and 56 cm. Size XXXL: 7, 15, 23, 31, 40, 49 and 58 cm. Back piece: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 72-80-88-96-104-116 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) with 2 threads Alpaca on needle size 4.5 mm. P 1 row from WS and continue in rib as follows: 1 edge st * K2, P2 *, repeat from *-* on the next 68-76-84-92-100-112 sts and finish with K2 and 1 edge st. When rib measures 7 cm change to needle size 5 mm and continue in reverse stocking st. Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures 8 cm dec 1 st each side on every 2.5 cm a total of 5 times = 62-70-78-86-94-106 sts. When piece measures 24 cm inc 1 st each side on every 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm a total of 4 times = 70-78-86-94-102-114 sts. When piece measures 39-40-41-42-43-44 cm cast off for armhole each side at the beg of every row: 3 sts 1-1-1-1-2-2 times, 2 sts 0-1-2-3-3-5 times and 1 st 1-2-3-4-4-5 times = 62-64-66-68-70-72 sts. When piece measures 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm cast off the middle 24-26-28-30-32-34 sts for neck and dec 1 st on neckline on next row = 18-18-18-18-18-18 sts left on each shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 58-60-62-64-66-68 cm. Right front piece: Cast on 53-57-61-65-69-77 sts (includes 1 edge st at side and 8 front band sts towards mid front) on needle size 4.5 mm with 2 threads Alpaca. P 1 row from WS and continue in rib as follows from RS: 8 garter sts (front band), *K2, P2 *, repeat from *-* on the next 44-48-52-56-60-68 sts and finish with 1 edge st. Remember buttonholes – see above. When rib measures 7 cm change to needle size 5 mm and continue as follows from the RS: 8 garter sts, P 2 sts, M.1 (= 16 sts), 26-30-34-38-42-50 sts in reverse stocking st, 1 edge st. Continue in pattern like this. When piece measures 8 cm dec at side as described for back piece = 48-52-56-60-64-72 sts. When piece measures 24 cm inc at side as described for back piece = 52-56-60-64-68-76 sts. When piece measures 39-40-41-42-43-44 cm cast off for armhole at side as described for back piece. At the same time when piece measures 50-52-54-55-57-59 cm slip the 26 sts towards mid front on a stitch holder for neck. Cast off to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 2-2-2-2-2-3 times and 1 st 0-1-2-3-4-5 times. When all dec are complete there are 18-18-18-18-18-18 sts left on shoulder. Cast off when piece measures 58-60-62-64-66-68 cm. Left front piece: Like right front piece, but mirrored. Work M.2 instead of M.1. Sleeve: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 42-42-46-46-50-50 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 4.5 mm with 2 threads Alpaca. P 1 row from WS and continue in rib, K2/P2, with 1 edge st each side. When piece measures 7 cm change to needle size 5 mm and continue in reverse stocking st. When piece measures 10 cm inc 1 st each side on every 5-4-4-3-2.5-2 cm a total of 8-10-10-12-13-15 times = 58-62-66-70-76-80 sts. When piece measures 50-49-49-48-47-45 cm – less for the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulder - cast off for sleeve cap each side at the beg of every row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 0-1-2-3-5-7 times, then 2 sts each side until piece measures 56-56-57-57-58-58 cm, now cast off 3 sts each side 1 time and cast off remaining sts. Sleeve measures approx 57-57-58-58-59-59 cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams inside 1edge st. Sew on buttons Hood: Pick up 96 to 120 sts round the neck (incl sts on stitch holders. Work reverse stocking st with 8 garter sts towards mid front and M.1/M.2. Continue until hood measures approx 40 cm – adjust to after a full repeat of M.1/M.2. Work 1 row, K tog all sts in M.1/M.2 2 by 2. Cast off loosely. Fold hood double and sew tog at top from the RS. |
