Bon tricot!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g., 126 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 26) = 4.8. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. each 5th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. KNITTING TIP: If the piece is divided in the middle of a pattern-border, the pattern might not then fit under the sleeves. Continue the pattern from the yoke as far as it will go to mid-under the sleeve – the next border will fit across all stitches in the round. If the piece is divided before the pattern-border marked with a star in A.2, adjust the stitch count on the body to 196-210-224-238-266-294-322 stitches before working the border. The stitch count is adjusted back to 196-212-228-244-268-292-316 stitches when the pattern-border is finished. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Do not decrease on a purled round. Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder, while increasing evenly. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 108-108-114-114-120-126-126 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and DROPS Lima or DROPS Saga. Change to circular needle size 2.5 mm. Knit 3 rounds (= rolled-edge). Now work rib (knit 1 and purl 1) for 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 36-36-38-38-40-42-42 stitches (approx. mid-front); the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Stitches are now increased in the rib as follows: * Knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, make 1 yarn over *, work from *-* a total of 18-18-19-19-20-21-21 times = 126-126-133-133-140-147-147 stitches. Continue this rib with knit above knit and purl above purl; NOTE: On the first round, purl the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes (= 2 purled stitches in every 3rd purled section). Continue this rib for 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 cm (from the marker mid-front. The complete rib now measures 5-5-5-5-7-7-7 cm, without the rolled-edge). Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Work stocking stitch. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. When the yoke measures 3-3-3-4-5-5-5 cm from the marker, increase 26-30-31-31-36-37-41 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 152-156-164-164-176-184-188 stitches. When the yoke measures 5-5-5-6-7-8-8 cm from the marker, work PATTERN – read explanation above, working A.1 in the round. Continue this pattern. AT THE SAME TIME on each round marked with an arrow in A.1 increase stitches as described below – remember INCREASE TIP. NOTE: When A.1 is finished in height, work A.2 in the same way. A.2 will continue on the body and sleeves after dividing (the increases are finished before dividing. Arrow-1: Increase 26-28-28-34-38-40-42 stitches evenly spaced = 178-184-192-198-214-224-230 stitches. Arrow-2: Increase 26-28-30-34-38-38-42 stitches evenly spaced = 204-212-222-232-252-262-272 stitches. Arrow-3: Increase 24-28-30-32-36-38-40 stitches evenly spaced = 228-240-252-264-288-300-312 stitches. There is now room for 19-20-21-22-24-25-26 repeats of A.1 in the round. Arrow-4: Increase 28-30-30-36-40-44-44 stitches evenly spaced = 256-270-282-300-328-344-356 stitches. Arrow-5: Increase 22-22-24-30-30-36-38 stitches evenly spaced = 278-292-306-330-358-380-394 stitches. Arrow-6: Increase 16-16-16-20-20-26-26 stitches evenly spaced = 294-308-322-350-378-406-420 stitches. There is now room for 21-22-23-25-27-29-30 repeats of A.2 in the round. When the yoke measures 20-21-23-24-25-26-28 cm from the marker mid-front, divide for the body and sleeves (the increases should be finished). DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES Place the first 59-60-61-69-73-77-76 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-20-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work 88-94-100-106-116-126-134 stitches (front piece), place the next 59-60-61-69-73-77-76 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 10-12-14-16-18-20-24 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), work the last 88-94-100-106-116-126-134 stitches (back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 196-212-228-244-268-292-316 stitches. Insert 1 marker in each side, in the middle of the 10-12-14-16-18-20-24 cast-on stitches under each sleeve. Allow these markers to follow your work onwards. Continue the pattern from the yoke in the round – read KNITTING TIP. When A.2 is finished in height, continue with stocking stitch. Work until the piece measures 44-46-48-50-51-52-54 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1 and purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 52-52-56-62-70-78-80 stitches evenly on the first round = 248-264-284-306-338-370-396 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm, cast off with rib or work Italian cast-off. The jumper measures approx. 49-51-53-55-56-58-60 cm from the marker mid-front and 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 59-60-61-69-73-77-76 sleeve-stitches from one thread/stitch holder onto circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 10-12-14-16-18-20-24 cast-on stitches under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 69-72-75-85-91-97-100 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 10-12-14-16-18-20-24 new stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Continue the pattern from the yoke in the round. NOTE: The pattern will not fit under the sleeve; work the pattern as far as it will go. AT THE SAME TIME adjust the stitch count to 68-72-74-84-90-96-100 stitches on the first round. When A.2 is finished, continue with stocking stitch. AT THE SAME TIME, after working 1 round after dividing, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 2nd round a total of 2-2-2-3-3-4-4 times, then decrease 2 stitches every 2 cm 5-6-6-9-10-11-12 times = 54-56-58-60-64-66-68 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 42-42-41-41-39-39-38 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm. Work rib (knit 1 and purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 14-14-16-16-16-16-16 stitches evenly on the first round = 68-70-74-76-80-82-84 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm, cast off with rib or work Italian cast-off. The sleeve measures approx. 45-45-44-44-43-43-42 cm from the division. |
