---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in back loop of stitch. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and knit stitch in front loop of stitch. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- WRIST WARMERS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked from the wrist and up. Finish by working a detachable flap. RIGHT WRIST WARMER: Piece is worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 56-60 stitches with DROPS Merino Extra Fine or DROPS Karisma on double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib = knit 2/purl 2 for 5-6 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and work in stocking stitch - AT THE SAME TIME decrease on 1st round 14-14 stitches evenly = 42-46 stitches. Insert a marker in the 11th-13th stitch from beginning of round and let the marker follow this stitch onwards. Remember to follow the knitting tension! When piece measures 13-14 cm increase AFTER stitch with marker - read INCREASE TIP and INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT in explanation above. Increase 1 stitch after stitch with marker on every other round 8-10 times in total = 50-56 stitches. Work until piece measures 18-21 cm. Slip the first 11-13 stitches on 1 thread for thumb without working them, cast on 3 new stitches at the beginning of round and then work the rest of round = 42-46 stitches. Work next round as follows: Knit 21-23 (= inside of warmer), purl 21-23 (= outside of warmer - pick up stitches in these purl stitches for flip top later). Work in stocking over all stitches until piece measures 22-25 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME on 1st round increasing 2-2 stitches evenly = 44-48 stitches. Work rib for 1 cm. Cast off somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Piece measures approx. 5-5 cm from where stitches were cast on behind thumb and 23-26 cm in total. THUMB: Slip the 11-13 stitches from thread back on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and pick in addition up 3 stitches in stitches cast on on inside of warmer = 14-16 stitches. Work in stocking stitch in the round for approx. 2-3 cm. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME on 1st round increasing 2-0 stitches evenly = 16-16 stitches. Work rib for 1 cm, then cast off all stitches somewhat loosely with knit over knit and purl over purl. Thumb measures approx. 3-4 cm. Cut the yarn and pull yarn through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. LEFT WRIST WARMER: Piece is worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 56-60 stitches with DROPS Merino Extra Fine or DROPS Karisma on double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib = knit 2/purl 2 for 5-6 cm. Insert a marker in the 11th-11th stitch from beginning of round and let the marker follow this stitch onwards. When piece measures 13-14 cm increase BEFORE stitch with marker - remember INCREASE TIP and read INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT in explanation above. Increase 1 stitch before stitch with marker on every other round 8-10 times in total = 50-56 stitches. Work until piece measures 18-21 cm. Work until stitch with marker, slip the next 11-13 stitches on 1 thread without working them, cast on 3 new stitches on needle and work the rest of round = 42-46 stitches. Work next round as follows: Knit 21-23 (= inside of warmer), purl 21-23 (= outside of warmer– pick up stitches in these purl stitches for flip top later). FLIP TOPS: Use double pointed needles size 3 mm, place piece so that it lays in knitting direction with outside of warmer upwards, cast-on is towards you. Pick up 1 stitch in each of the 21-23 purl stitches on the outside of warmer, then cast on 23-25 new stitches at the end of row = 44-48 stitches. Place piece together and work in the round in rib as follows: Knit 1, * purl 2, knit 2 *, work from *-* until 3 stitches remain, purl 2 and knit 1. Work until hood measures 9-10 cm, approx. 2 cm remain until finished measurements. Knit 1, purl 2, * knit 2 together, purl 2 *, work from *-* the rest of round and finish by knitting last stitch together with first stitch = 33-36 stitches. * Purl 2, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. * Purl 2 together, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 22-24 stitches. * Purl 1, knit 1 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. Knit stitches together 2 by 2 the entire round = 11-12 stitches. The flip top measures approx. 12-13 cm. Cut the yarn approx. 60 cm long, pull it through the remaining stitches. Tighten and fasten yarn with a knot on the inside of the flip top and then pull yarn through to right side of work - do not cut the yarn end - use it for strap. STRAPS: Use crochet hook size 3 mm. Insert crochet hook through a knit stitch where yarn comes out at the top of flip top. Use the yarn end, make a yarn over and pull yarn through stitch = 1 chain stitch, continue to work chain stitches until chain stitch row fits the size of the button. Work 1 slip stitch to fasten the chain stitch row in approx. the same place as it started. Cut and fasten the yarn. Sew on 1 button on the outside of each warmer to fasten straps. |
