Hello. At the beginning it talks of about needles size 3.5 and 4.5 ,but below it uses the size 4 and 5. Which are the correct ones? Thank you.

Dear Ana, we suggest that you should always do a gauge swatch, compare the stitch- and row counts to that given in the pattern, and decide just which needle to use according to that. Happy Crafting!

Was stimmt jetzt? Danke Grüße aus Bayer

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (when working in the round): Alternately knit 1 round and purl 1 round. 1 ridge vertically = 2 rounds. GARTER STITCH (when working back and forth): Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows the pattern seen from right side. INCREASE TIP (applies to sides of body): Work as follows on first increase: Work until 3-3-4-4-5-6 stitches remain before marker thread, make 1 yarn over, work 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches in garter stitch (marker thread is in the middle of these 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches), make 1 yarn over = 2 stitches increased at marker thread. Repeat at the other marker thread = 4 stitches increased on round. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above. On every increase vertically work 2 stitches more between the yarn overs in each side (i.e. work 1 stitch more on each side of marker threads). This way the increase will be less visible in each side. DECREASE TIP (applies to armholes): Decrease inside 4 stitches in garter stitch. All decreases are done from the right side! DECREASE AS FOLLOWS AFTER 4 STITCHES IN GARTER STITCH: Knit 2 together. DECREASE AS FOLLOWS BEFORE 4 STITCHES IN GARTER STITCH: Work until 2 stitches remain before the 4 edge stitches, and knit these 2 stitches twisted together. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- TOP - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked in the round on circular needle, from the bottom and up to armholes. Divide the piece for front piece and back piece and finish each part separately back and forth. Sew piece together on the shoulders. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work a neck edge in the round. BODY: Cast on 122-130-150-162-194-214 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with DROPS Paris. Work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) in the round for 2-2-2-3-3-3 cm. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm. Insert 1 marker thread at beginning of round, and 1 marker thread after 61-65-75-81-97-107 stitches (= in the sides on body). Move marker threads upwards when working. They should be used for increase in the sides on body. Knit 1 round. Work next round as follows: * Work 3-3-4-4-5-6 stitches in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, work 23-25-29-32-39-43 stitches in stocking stitch, A.1, 23-25-29-32-39-43 stitches in stocking stitch, work 3-3-4-4-5-6 stitches in garter stitch, (marker thread is here) *, work from *-* 1 more time. Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 7 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side of both marker threads - read INCREASE TIP (= 4 stitches increased). Increase like this every 5-5-6-6-7-7 cm 4 times in total in each side = 138-146-166-178-210-230 stitches. Continue until piece measures 28-29-30-31-32-33 cm – adjust so that next round is an even numbered round in A.1 (this is important to avoid working the cable from wrong side when piece is divided for back piece and front piece). 4 rounds remain before division for back piece and front piece. Work the 4 rounds as follows: Work in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above, over the middle 14-14-16-16-18-20 stitches in each side (= 7-7-8-8-9-10 stitches on each side of both marker threads). - work the other stitches as before. DIVIDING FOR ARMHOLES: On next round divide piece for front piece and back piece, and work round as follows: Cast off 3-3-4-4-5-6 stitches for armhole, work as before until 3-3-4-4-5-6 stitches remain before next marker thread, cast off 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches for armhole, work as before until 3-3-4-4-5-6 stitches on round, and cast off the last 3-3-4-4-5-6 stitches for armhole. Fasten off. Finish back piece and front piece separately. BACK PIECE: = 63-67-75-81-95-103 stitches. Begin from wrong side and continue pattern with 4 stitches in GARTER STITCH in each side - read explanation above. In each side decrease stitches for armholes, decrease as follows on every other row - read DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch 4-5-8-10-14-17 times. Then decrease stitches for armhole on every 4th row: 1 stitch 3-3-3-3-2-2 times in total = 49-51-53-55-63-65 stitches. When piece measures 43-45-47-49-51-53 cm, cast off the middle 25-25-27-29-31-31 stitches for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue as before and cast off 2 stitches on next row from the neck = 10-11-11-11-14-15 stitches. When piece measures 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm, cast off. FRONT PIECE: = 63-67-75-81-95-103 stitches. Begin from wrong side and continue pattern back and forth with 4 edge stitches in GARTER STITCH in each side - read explanation above. In each side cast off stitches for armhole, cast off as on back piece = 49-51-53-55-63-65 stitches. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 38-39-41-42-44-46 cm, slip the middle 9-9-11-13-15-15 stitches on a thread for neck and finish each shoulder separately. Continue as before and cast off for neck at the beginning of every row from neck as follows: Cast off 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 3 times. After all decreases for armholes and neck, 10-11-11-11-14-15 stitches remain on shoulder. Work until 1 row remain before piece measures 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm. When piece measures 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm, cast off. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. DOUBLE NECK EDGE: Begin from right side at one shoulder and pick up approx. 88 to 108 stitches around the neck (including stitches on thread at the front) on a short circular needle size 4 mm with DROPS Paris - number of stitches should be divisible by 2. Work rib in the round = knit 1/purl 1 for 7 cm. Loosely cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Fold the rib down on inside of garment. Fasten rib to get a double neck edge. To avoid a tight neck edge that sticks out it is important to keep the seam elastic. |
