Dear Alena, in the pattern you cast off with knit from the right side. Here is a video on how to cast off from the right side. Happy knitting!

On the front left piece it says to rib until 5 stitches are left and then do 1 knit and four garter stitches, I assume this is on the inside front and will become the band where the buttons/holes go. I don't understand why it doesn't say do the 4 garter stitches at the end of every other row not all of them. Surely you don't have a band on each edge of both front pieces ie the button band AND down the side where the back joins on?
06.11.2024 - 15:24DROPS Design answered:
Dear Natasha, after you have worked the bottom ribbing edge, you work stocking stitch with 1 edge stitch on the side and 4 sts front band sts in garter stitch, so from RS work on left front piece: K1 (edge in garter stitch), knit until 4 sts remain and end with 4 sts in garter stitch; from WS knit 4, purl until 1 st remain and K1. Happy knitting!

Hello. On the front pieces the pattern says to purl a row from the wrong side, then work the first row of the rib. It then states continue the rib for 3cm , with the next row from the right side. After the first rib row I am unsure what you knit for the next row which is in the wrong side? Thank you for any advice you can give me.
13.05.2024 - 21:42DROPS Design answered:
Hi Figray, You purl one row from the wrong side, then work rib back and forth for 3 cm. Finish the rib with a row from the wrong side so the piece is continued with the next row from the right side. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm, cast off with knit from the right side. Now decrease for the V-neck on the next row from the right side: Work 1 garter stitch, stocking stitch until there are 6 stitches left, knit 2 together (1 stitch decreased) and 4 garter stitches. Decrease like this every 4th row a total of 6-7-8-8-8-8 times, then every 2nd row 3-2-1-2-2-2 times = 26-29-32-34-37-41 stitches. When the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm, decrease 3 stitches evenly on the row (do not decrease over the band) = 23-26-29-31-34-38 stitches. Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Continue with 4 garter stitches over the band, stocking stitch and 1 garter stitch at the side. When the piece measures 4 cm, start working the BUTTONHOLES – read description above. Work until the piece measures 28-28-28-29-30-31 cm. Now decrease for the V-neck on the next row from the right side: 4 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, work stocking stitch until there is 1 stitch left, 1 garter stitch. Cast off with knit from the right side. SLEEVES: Cast on 58-60-64-68-72-76 stitches with circular needle size 5.5 mm and DROPS Melody. Purl 1 row from the wrong side, then work rib as follows: 1 garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 1 * work from *-* until there is 1 stitch left, 1 garter stitch. Continue this rib for 10 cm, with the next row from the right side. Change to circular needle size 7 mm and knit 1 row where you decrease 16-16-16-18-20-20 stitches evenly spaced = 42-44-48-50-52-56 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch and 1 garter stitch on each side. When the sleeve measures 14-14-15-13-12-12 cm, increase 1 stitch inside the garter stitch on each side – read INCREASE TIP. Repeat this increase every 7-7-8½-6½-6½-8 cm a total of 4-4-3-4-4-3 times = 50-52-54-58-60-62 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 47-47-46-44-43-41 cm. Loosely cast off with knit from the right side. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams from the outside towards the neck (the middle 11-11-11-13-13-13 cm on the back piece are neck). Insert 1 marker on the front and back pieces, 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm down from the shoulder seams. Sew in the sleeves between the markers – middle of sleeves should meet the shoulder seams. Sew the sleeve and side seams in one go – sewing in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so the seams are flat. Sew the buttons onto the left band. |
