17.02.2025 - 07:43DROPS Design answered:
Hej Heidi, du skal have 16 masker på 10 cm ifølge opskriften. Du ser målene på vesten i måleskitsen nederst i opskriften. Hvis du vil fjerne 5 cm i bredden, så skal du slå 8 masker mindre op :)

I wish to knit pattern ai-020-bn, for a 5 year old. However I only have either 8 or 12 ply yarn. Would this pattern be suitable if i used 8 ply, 4mm needles, 2 or 3 sizes larger? Thank you. Jill
07.08.2023 - 13:56DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mr King, your tension would be completely different as the one used in the pattern and you would have to re-calculate entirely the pattern to match your tension (read more about tension here. Find here all vest patterns for children for yarn group B (approx 8 ply) here. Happy knitting!

How do you calculate the number of skeins of yarn is needed for the "Knitted vest/slipover for kids in Drops Air"? Pattern ai-020-bn. I do no see the yards needed in the pattern. Thank you!
14.10.2022 - 00:44DROPS Design answered:
Hi Linda, We use skeins as our yarn amounts. But for yardage you can look up the particular yarn, where the length per skein is stated (e.g. Air: 50g skein gives you approx. 164 yards). Happy crafting!

"(approx. 5-6-6-7-7-8 cm remain on front piece, or worked to desired length)" Didn't you rather mean 15-16-17...? The numbers just don't add up.
12.04.2021 - 09:43DROPS Design answered:
Dear Nena, piece measures now 31-34-38-41-45-48 cm + the 5-6-6-7-7-8 last cm = 36-40-44-48-52-56 cm in total - just as under "SHOULDERS" and in chart. Happy knitting!

Knitted vest / slipover for kids in DROPS Air. Piece is knitted in garter stitch with high neck and vents in the side. Size 2 - 12 years
DROPS Baby & Children 38-15 |
|
------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge = 2 rounds. Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. CAST-OFF TIP: To avoid a tight cast-off edge you may use a larger needle size. If this also is too tight, work a 1 yarn over after approx. every 4th stitch while casting off (cast off yarn overs as regular stitches). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work piece back and forth on circular needle. Work piece in 1 part as follows: Work from bottom of front piece, up to neck, cast off stitches for neck, work the shoulder, cast on stitches for neck on back piece and work down along back piece. Work the neck in round at the end. FRONT PIECE: Cast on 56-60-62-66-70-72 stitches on circular needle size 5.5 mm with Air. Work ridges in GARTER STITCH back and forth - read explanation above. When piece measures 9-12-14-21-20-23 cm, decrease for buttonhole on next row from right side as follows: Knit 2, knit 2 together, 1 yarn over (= 1 buttonhole), knit until 4 stitches remain on needle, 1 yarn over, knit 2 together (= 1 buttonhole) and finish with knit 2. Work 6-6-7-7-8-8 cm in garter stitch. Decrease for buttonhole the same way on next row from right side (= 4 buttonholes in total). When piece measures 31-34-38-41-45-48 cm (approx. 5-6-6-7-7-8 cm remain on front piece, or worked to desired length), cast off the middle 14-14-16-18-18-20 stitches for neck (= 21-23-23-24-26-26 stitches remain on each shoulder). Now finish each shoulder separately. SHOULDER: On next row from the neck, cast off 1 stitch. Cast off like this on every row from neck 3 times in total = 18-20-20-21-23-23 stitches. When piece measures 5-6-6-7-7-8 cm from the first stitches cast off for neck, insert 1 marker (= mid on top of shoulder). Piece measures 36-40-44-48-52-56 cm in total. Work until piece measures 2 cm from marker on shoulder. Work the other shoulder the same way. BACK PIECE: Now join the shoulders together again as follows: Work over stitches on one shoulder, cast on 20-20-22-24-24-26 stitches on needle and work over stitches from the other shoulder = 56-60-62-66-70-72 stitches. Continue back and forth in garter stitch until piece measures 36-40-44-48-52-56 cm from marker on the shoulder. Cast off by knitting– read CAST-OFF TIP. NECK: Work neck in the round on double pointed needles. Pick up approx. 50-68 stitches from right side with Air on double pointed needles 4.5 mm inside 1 stitch (make sure that number of stitches is not too tight or loose according to neck width on the vest). Work ridges in GARTER STITCH in the round - read explanation above, for approx. 6 cm. Cast off by knitting– remember CAST-OFF TIP! ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons on to back piece on the right side. |
