I would love this for an everyday sweater. I like that it flairs at the hem, that the pattern changes halfway down the length of it including the sleeves. And if you know me by now - it's v-neck, opens down the front and the hem is long. Very Pretty.

GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. MEASURING TIP: All length measurements are done when piece is held up, otherwise the garment will be longer than measurements in chart when worn. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band when garment is worn: 1 buttonhole = begin from right side and knit second and third stitch from edge together, then make 1 yarn over. On next row knit yarn over to make holes. Decrease for buttonholes when piece measures: S: 6, 14, 23 and 32 cm M: 6, 15, 24 and 33 cm L: 6, 16, 25 and 34 cm XL: 6, 15, 25 and 35 cm XXL: 6, 16, 26 and 36 cm XXXL: 7, 17, 27 and 37 cm DECREASE TIP (applies to neck at the front): Decrease as follows on right front piece: Work 5 stitches in garter stitch, slip yarn over and knit stitch of the needle knitwise, work next stitch as explained in pattern (i.e. either purl or “knit yarn over and knit stitch together”, then pass yarn over and knit stitch over stitch knitted/stitches knitted together, work the rest of row. NOTE: There should always be 1 English rib stitch towards band. Decrease as follows on left front piece: Work until 7 stitches remain on row, knit the next 3 stitches together, work 5 band stitches in garter stitch. NOTE: There should always be 1 English rib stitch towards band. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work piece back and forth in parts, bottom up and sewn together when finished. Work sleeves back and forth on circular needle, bottom up. NOTE: When increasing/decreasing in false English rib, always count yarn over + slipped stitch as 1 stitch. BACK PIECE: Cast on 72-78-81-90-96-105 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side) on circular needle size 10 mm with Andes. Work first row as follows from right side: Work 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read explanation above, * knit 1, purl 2 together *, work from *-* until 2 stitches remain, finish with knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch = 49-53-55-61-65-71 stitches. Then work as follows from wrong side (read diagram from left towards right): Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 until 1 stitch remains and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Pattern begins and ends with 1 knit stitch in false English rib inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch in each side of piece, seen from right side. Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 10 cm - READ MEASURING TIP, work next row as follows from wrong side: Purl over all stitches (continue with 1 edge stitch in each side). Then work according to A.2. Work A.2 until piece measures approx. 31-31-31-34-34-34 cm, adjust after one whole repetition of A.2. Now work 1 row as follows from right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 1 *, repeat from *-* until 2 stitches remain, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Then work A.1, work first row from wrong side, and pattern begins and ends with 1 knit stitch in false English rib inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch in each side of piece, seen from right side. When piece measures 42-43-44-45-46-47 cm, cast off 3 stitches in each side for armholes = 43-47-49-55-59-65 stitches. Continue with A.1. When piece measures 44-46-46-48-50-50 cm, work next row as follows from wrong side: Purl all stitches. Then work according to A.2. When piece measures 58-60-62-64-66-68 cm, work 1 ridge over the middle 19-19-21-21-23-23 stitches. When piece measures 60-62-64-66-68-70 cm, decrease for neck as follows: Cast off the middle 9-9-11-11-13-13 stitches and finish each shoulder separately = 17-19-19-22-23-26 stitches remain on each shoulder. Continue with 5 stitches in garter stitch towards the neck and false English rib as before. Cast off the remaining stitches when piece measures 62-64-66-68-70-72 cm. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Cast on 40-43-46-49-52-58 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side) on circular needle size 10 mm with Andes. Work first row as follows from right side: Work 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 2 together *, work from *-* until 2 stitches remain, finish with knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch = 29-31-33-35-37-41 stitches. Then work as follows from wrong side (read diagram from left towards right): Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 until 5 stitches remain and finish with 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Pattern begins and ends with 1 knit stitch in false English rib inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch/5 band stitches in each side of piece, seen from right side. Continue pattern like this, when piece measures 6-6-6-6-6-7 cm, decrease for first BUTTONHOLE – see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 10 cm, work next row as follows from wrong side: Purl all stitches until 5 stitches remain, work 5 band stitches in garter stitch. Work next row as follows from right side: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, A.2 until 1 stitch remains, work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue pattern like this. When piece measures 31-31-31-34-34-34 cm (adjust after a whole repetition of A.2), purl 1 row as follows from right side: 5 band stitches in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 1 *, repeat from *-* until 2 stitches remain, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Then work A.1, work first row from wrong side, and pattern begins and ends with 1 knit stitch in false English rib inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch/5 band stitches in each side of piece, seen from right side. Continue this pattern, AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 33-34-35-36-37-38 cm begin decrease for neck, decrease inside 5 stitches in garter stitch - read explanation above. Decrease every 3½-3½-3-3½-3-3 cm 9-9-11-10-11-12 times in total. When piece measures 42-43-44-45-46-47 cm, cast off 3 stitches at the beginning of a row from wrong side for armhole. After all decreases for neck and armhole there are 17-19-19-22-23-26 stitches on needle. Continue until piece measures 62-64-66-68-70-72 cm and cast off. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Cast on 40-43-46-49-52-58 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side) on circular needle size 10 mm with Andes. Work first row as follows from right side: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 2 together *, work from *-* until 6 stitches remain, finish with knit 1 and 5 band stitches in garter stitch = 29-31-33-35-37-41 stitches. Then work as follows from wrong side (read diagram from left towards right): Work 5 band stitches in garter stitch, A.1 until 1 stitch remains and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Pattern begins and ends with 1 knit stitch in false English rib inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch/5 band stitches in each side of piece, seen from right side. Continue pattern like this and work as right front piece but reversed. Do not decrease for buttonholes. SLEEVES: Work piece back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 39-42-42-45-45-48 stitches (including 1 edge stitch in each side) on circular needle size 10 mm with Andes. Work first row as follows from right side: Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 2 together *, work from *-* until 2 stitches remain, finish with knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch = 27-29-29-31-31-33 stitches. Then work as follows from wrong side (read diagram from left towards right): Work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, A.1 until 1 stitch remains and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Pattern begins and ends with 1 knit stitch in false English rib inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch in each side of piece, seen from right side. Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 10 cm, work next row as follows from wrong side: Purl over all stitches (continue with 1 edge stitch in each side). Then work according to A.2. Continue pattern like this. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 12 cm, begin increase in the sides on sleeve. Increase 1 stitch in each side inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, increase every 9-8-8-7½-7½-7½ cm 5 times in total = 37-39-39-41-41-43 stitches. Work the new stitches in the pattern. When 2 repetitions of A.2 have been worked, work 1 row as follows from right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 1 *, repeat from *-* until 2 stitches remain, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Then work A.1 (work first row from wrong side) and pattern begins and ends with 1 knit stitch in false English rib inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch in each side of piece, seen from right side (as before). When piece measures 41-40-40-38-38-37 cm work next row as follows from wrong side: Purl all stitches. Then work according to A.2. When piece measures 49-48-48-46-45-44 cm (shorter measurements in the larger sizes because of wider shoulders), cast off. Work another sleeve the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves and sew underarm seams and side seams in one in outer loops of ridges. Sew on buttons. |
