Bonnes finitions!

Is the front and the back worked the same before putting them on the circular needle and continuing the pattern. The instruction just say to purl 1 row on the back piece. Thanks for your response.
18.09.2021 - 12:03DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sharon, the front and the back is started differently, because the back is longer by 6 cm. So you start the back, knit it about 6 cm, do the first row of the front, put all the stitches together on a circular needle and continue on the round. Happy Stitching!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The back piece is 6 cm longer than the front piece, so you start by working each piece back and forth separately. The pieces are combined and you continue working in the round, bottom up as far as the armholes. Then the front and back pieces are continued back and forth, separately again. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles. The neck is worked in the round with double pointed needles. BACK PIECE: Cast on 51-57-63-63-69-75 stitches with circular needle size 9 mm and Snow. Purl 1 row. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: Work 3 stitches in GARTER STITCH – read description above, * knit 3, purl 3 *, work from *-* until there are 6 stitches left on the row, knit 3 and work 3 stitches in garter stitch. Continue like this until the rib measures approx. 6 cm; finish from the wrong side. Lay the piece to one side and work the front piece. FRONT PIECE: Cast on 51-57-63-63-69-75 stitches with circular needle size 9 mm and Snow. Purl 1 row (= wrong side). BODY: Place the back piece on the same circular needle as the front piece (make sure both pieces have their right and wrong sides the same way) = 102-114-126-126-138-150 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread at the beginning of the round. Then work rib (= knit 3 / purl 3) in the round over all stitches until the rib measures approx. 6 cm on the front piece and approx. 12 cm on the back piece. Change to circular needle size 10 mm and work the next round as follows: * A.1 (= 3 stitches), A.2 (= 3 stitches) *, work from *-* to end of round. Continue this pattern. A.1 and A.2 are repeated in height. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When the back piece measures 47-49-48-50-49-51 cm (the front piece 41-43-42-44-43-45 cm), cast off for the armholes by working the next round as follows: Cast off the first 3 stitches, work the next 45-51-57-57-63-69 stitches as before, cast off the next 6 stitches, work the next 45-51-57-57-63-69 stitches as before and cast off the last 3 stitches. Front and back pieces are finished separately, back and forth as described below. BACK PIECE: = 45-51-57-57-63-69 stitches. Continue with pattern as before. Work until the piece measures 61-63-65-67-69-71 cm. On the next row from the right side cast off the middle 15-15-15-17-17-17 stitches for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. Cast off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 14-17-20-19-22-25 stitches left on the shoulder. Continue working until the piece measures 63-65-67-69-71-73 cm. Work 1 ridge, cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: = 45-51-57-57-63-69 stitches. Continue the pattern as before. When the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm, place the middle 9-9-9-11-11-11 stitches on 1 thread for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. Then cast off at the beginning of each row from the neck as follows: Cast off 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 2 times = 14-17-20-19-22-25 stitches left on shoulder. Continue working until the piece measures 57-59-61-63-65-67 cm – adjust to match the finishing row on the back piece. Work 1 ridge and cast off. Work the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVE: Cast on 30-30-36-36-42-42 stitches with double pointed needles size 9 mm and Snow. Knit 1 round then work rib (= knit 3 / purl 3) for 6 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 10 mm and continue as follows: Work * A.1 (= 3 stitches), A.2 (= 3 stitches) *, work from *-* to end of round. Continue this pattern. A.1 and A.2 are repeated in height. Work until the piece measures 52-49-47-48-46-43 cm (or to desired length; there is 3 cm left to finished length – NOTE: Shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider shoulders). Continue the pattern as before, but now work back and forth with circular needle until the piece measures 55-52-50-51-49-46 cm. Cast off from the right side. The sleeve folds up approx. 6 cm at the bottom. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so the seam is flat. Sew in the sleeves; sew the cast-off edge on the sleeve to the armhole. The opening under the sleeve is sewn where stitches were cast ff for the armhole on the body – sew in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch so the seam is flat. NECK: Start mid back and knit up from the right side approx. 54 to 60 stitches around the neck (including the stitches on the thread in front) with double pointed needles size 9 mm – the number of stitches should be divisible by 6. Work 4 RIDGES – read description above. Then work rib (= knit 3 / purl 3) until the neck measures 18 cm. Loosely cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. |
