Knitted jumper with raglan in 2 strands DROPS Delight. The piece is worked top down. Sizes S - XXXL.
DROPS 206-40 |
|
------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 76 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 4) = 19. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after each 19th stitch. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes ELEVATION (for back of neck): Skip this section if you do not want an elevation. Start from the wrong side and purl until you have worked 7-7-8-8-9-9 stitches past the marker thread at the beginning of the round, turn, tighten the strand and knit 14-14-16-16-18-18 stitches back. Turn, tighten the strand and purl 22-22-24-24-27-27 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and knit 29-29-32-32-36-36 stitches back. Turn, tighten the strand and purl 36-36-40-40-45-45 stitches, turn, tighten the strand and knit 43-43-48-48-54-54 stitches back. Turn, tighten the strand and purl back to the beginning of the round. Move the marker thread 14-14-15-17-18-20 stitches to the right. Cut the strand and work YOKE as described in the text. RAGLAN: Increase to raglan in each transition between body and sleeves as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker thread, make 1 yarn over, knit 4 (the marker thread sits in the middle of these 4 stitches), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased). On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. A total of 8 stitches are increased on each increase-round. CASTING-OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight use a ½ needle size larger. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (the marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Neck, yoke and body are worked in the round with circular needle, top down. After the neck you can work an elevation in the back of the neck to get a better fit and the neck will be slightly higher at the back. This elevation can be left out if you wish; the neck will then be the same front and back – see description in explanations. The sleeves are worked in the round with short circular needle/double pointed needles, top down. NECK: Cast on 76-80-84-88-92-96 stitches with short circular needle size 4 mm and 1 strand grey and 1 strand beige/grey/pink (= 2 strands). Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 2/ purl 2) for 2 cm. Knit 1 round where you increase 4-0-0-4-4-8 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 80-80-84-92-96-96-104 stitches. Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Insert a marker thread at the beginning of the round. You can now work an ELEVATION in the back of the neck – read description above or go straight to YOKE. YOKE: Insert 4 marker threads in the piece without working the stitches as follows: The first marker thread is inserted at the beginning of the round, the second after 28-28-30-34-36-40 stitches (= back piece), the third after 12 more stitches (= sleeve) and the fourth after 28-28-30-34-36-40 more stitches (= front piece); there are 12 stitches left back to the first marker thread (= sleeve). Work stocking stitch in the round, AT THE SAME TIME on round 2 start to increase to RAGLAN – read description above. Increase like this every 2nd round a total of 18-21-23-25-27-30 times. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! After the last increase there are 224-248-268-292-312-344 stitches on the needle. Continue working without increasing until the piece measures 19-21-23-25-27-29 cm from the neck-edge mid front. The next round is worked as follows: Knit 65-71-77-85-92-102 stitches (= back piece), place the next 46-52-56-60-62-68 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve), knit 66-72-78-86-94-104 stitches (= front piece), place the next 46-52-56-60-62-68 stitches on 1 thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-10 new stitches on the needle (= in side under sleeve) and knit the remaining 1-1-1-1-2-2 stitches (= back piece). Cut the strand. Body and sleeves are now finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: = 144-156-172-188-208-228 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in each side, in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches cast on under each sleeve. Allow both to follow your work onwards; they will be used when increasing later. Start the round at one the marker thread in the right side of piece (when jumper is worn) and continue with stocking stitch. Work until the piece measures 20-20-19-19-18-18 cm from the division. The next round is worked as follows: Work 72-78-86-94-104-114 stitches on the back piece and 25-25-28-28-32-33 stitches on the front piece. Work the next 22-28-30-38-40-48 stitches and then place them on 1 thread (= mid front). There are 25-25-28-28-32-33 stitches left to the beginning of the round on the front piece = 122-128-142-150-168-180 stitches on the needle. Now start the rounded front; work stocking stitch back and forth as follows: * Knit (right side) until there are 3 stitches left and place these stitches on the same thread as the stitches mid front, turn and purl (wrong side) until there are 3 stitches left and place these stitches on the same thread, turn *, work from *-* a total of 1-1-2-2-4-5 times = 116-122-130-138-144-150 stitches on the needle. * Knit (right side) until there are 2 stitches left and place these 2 stitches on the same thread, turn and purl (wrong side) until there are 2 stitches left and these also are placed on the same thread as the stitches mid front, turn *, work from *-* a total of 10-10-10-10-9-8 times = 76-82-90-98-108-118 stitches on the needle. Place the stitches from the thread back on the same circular needle = 144-156-172-188-208-228 stitches. Continue in the round to finished length. Knit 1 round where you increase 36-36-40-44-52-56 stitches evenly spaced – remember INCREASE TIP = 180-192-212-232-260-284 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and work rib (= knit 2/ purl 2). When the rib measures 2 cm increase 1 stitch in each purled section. Then continue the rib as follows: * Knit 2/ purl 3 *, repeat from *-* to the end of the round. When the whole rib measures 6 cm cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read CASTING-OFF TIP. SLEEVE: Place the 46-52-56-60-62-68 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 52-58-64-68-72-78 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches under the sleeve and allow it to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing mid under sleeve. Continue with stocking stitch. When the piece measures 2 cm from the division decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 5-3½-3-2-2-1½ cm a total of 8-10-12-14-15-17 times = 36-38-40-40-42-44 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 40-38-37-35-33-32 cm from the division (shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider neck and longer yoke). Knit 1 round where you increase 8-6-8-8-10-8 stitches evenly spaced = 44-44-48-48-52-52 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work rib (= knit 2/ purl 2) for 6 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember CASTING-OFF TIP. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
