Dear Lorna, the ties are each sew along the edge of each front piece, approx. 40-48 cm (see size) from bottom edge, this should be the same height than the hole left on the left side when sewing side together, so that the tie can be pulled through. Happy knitting!

Die Darstellung im Diagramm ist tatsächlich etwas verwirrend, denn es wird kein V-Ausschnitt gearbeitet - er ergibt sich erst durch das Zusammenbinden der Weste. Die beiden Bänder werden ja auf Taillenhöhe an die vorderen Ränder genäht (das Band, was dann unterseits liegt, können Sie durch die kleine Öffnung an der linken Seite der Weste wieder auf die Außenseite der Weste bringen) und wenn Sie sie zusammenbinden, werden diese Bereiche wie auf dem Foto ersichtlich nach vorne gezogen und bilden das "V".

Sie haben ja die Kragenmaschen bei den Vorderteilen noch weiter gestrickt als den Rest ("Über die restlichen 13-13-14-14-14 Kragenmaschen 8-8-9-9-9 cm glatt stricken."). Diese "überstehenden" cm müssen Sie ja irgendwo annähen. Sie legen also die beiden Kragenteile an den Halsausschnitt, sie müssen sich hinten in der Mitte treffen, und nähen sie am Halsausschnitt fest.

Knitting tension: 12 sts x 17 rows on needles size 8 mm in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. Back piece: Cast on 60-66-70-76-84 sts (incl. of 1 edge st each side) on needles size 8 mm in Vivaldi. K the 1st row from the WS and continue in stocking sts throughout. When the piece measures 20 cm cast off 1 st each side, repeat when the piece measures 35 and 50 cm = 54-60-64-70-78 sts. When piece measures 60-61-62-63-64 cm cast off 2 sts each side for the armhole = 50-56-60-66-74 sts. When the piece measures 76-78-80-82-84 cm cast off the centre 18-18-20-20-22 sts for neck = 16-19-20-23-26 sts left on each shoulder. Knit another row and cast off the remaining shoulder sts. The piece measures approx. 78-80-82-84-86 cm Right front piece: cast on 34-37-39-42-45 sts (incl. of 1 edge st at the side) on needles size 8 mm in Vivaldi. Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the collar tog at the centre back and sew it to the neckline at the back piece with the seam towards the WS. Sew the side seams, leave 2 cm as an opening at the left side approx 40-42-44-46-48 cm from the bottom edge (for the tie string to be put through) Crochet edge: Crochet around the armhole and the collar, the front edge and the bottom edge. Crochet the 1st row with 2 threads of Vivaldi as follows: 1 dc in the first st, *1 ch, skip 1 st/row, 1 dc in the following st*, repeat from *-* and finish with a sl st in the first dc on round. Cut the thread. Change to 1 thread of Cotton Viscose and crochet as follows: 1 dc in the first ch, *1 picot (= 3 ch, 1 dc in the first of the 3 ch), 1 dc in the following ch*, repeat from *-* and finish the round with a sl st in the first dc. Tie string: Crochet with 1 thread of Cotton Viscose 1 loose ch-row approx. 80-90-100-110-120 cm long. Turn and crochet 1 dc in each ch. Turn and crochet picots backwards as follows: 1 dc in the first st, *3 ch, 1 dc in the first of the 3 ch, skip 2 st, 1 dc in the following st*, repeat from *-* Crochet two similar tie strings.
