There are 84 stitches for the neck and when you insert the markers as follows 1 in the first stitch, count 13 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 23-25-27-29-29-31-33 stitches (= front piece), Insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 13 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-4 in the next stitch, there are 23-25-27-29-29-31-33 stitches left after the last marker (= back piece). Stitch count is 80 with 4 left over. Is this an error as I’m do the age 5-6.

Dear Mary, are you taking into account the stitches where you inserted the markers? You insert the 4 markers in 4 stitches in total, so you have: 1st stitch with marker (= 1) + 13 sleeve stitches + 2nd stitch with marker (= 1) + 27 front piece stitches + 3rd stitch with marker (= 1) + 13 sleeve stitches + 4th stitch with marker (= 1) + 27 back piece stitches = 80+4 = 84 stitches. Happy knitting!

Hei Heidi. Merket settes etter att vrangborden er ferdig. Mvh DROPS Design

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On the next round work the yarn overs as follows: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH: Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH: Knit through the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g., 134 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g., 28) = 4.8. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after approx. each 5th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 76-80-84-88-88-92-96 stitches with circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Merino Extra Fine. Knit 1 round. Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 1) for 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 26-27-28-29-29-30-31 stitches (approx. mid-front), the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 4 markers without working the stitches, each inserted into a knitted stitch from the rib; these are the raglan-stitches and you increase for raglan on each side of these stitches. Insert marker-1 in the first stitch, count 13 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 23-25-27-29-29-31-33 stitches (= front piece), Insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 13 stitches (= sleeve), Insert marker-4 in the next stitch, there are 23-25-27-29-29-31-33 stitches left after the last marker (= back piece). Work stocking stitch in the round and increase for RAGLAN on each side of the raglan-stitches – read explanation above for working the yarn overs on the following round. Increase for raglan every 2nd round a total of 17-18-19-20-21-22-23 times = 212-224-236-248-256-268-280 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Continue with stocking stitch, without further increases, until the yoke measures 13-14-15-16-17-18-19 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: After dividing, the raglan-stitches will be positioned slightly inside the front and back pieces. Work as follows: Knit 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 (belong to the back piece), place the next 45-47-49-51-51-53-55 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 61-65-69-73-77-81-85 (= front piece), place the next 45-47-49-51-51-53-55 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 59-63-67-71-74-78-82 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 134-142-150-158-170-178-186 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 6-6-6-6-8-8-8 cast-on stitches under one sleeve. Work to this marker; the round now begins here. Continue with stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 27-30-34-38-41-43-45 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 28-30-32-34-32-34-36 stitches evenly on the first round – read INCREASE TIP = 162-172-182-192-202-212-222 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm cast off with rib. The jumper measures approx. 30-33-37-41-45-47-49 cm from the marker mid-front and 33-36-40-44-48-50-52 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 45-47-49-51-51-53-55 sleeve-stitches from one thread on circular needle size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 51-53-55-57-59-61-63 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 6-6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and work stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 2 cm, decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 3-4-5-6-6½-7-8 cm a total of 6 times = 39-41-43-45-47-49-51 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 20-24-28-33-37-40-44 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 1), AT THE SAME TIME increase 7 stitches evenly on the first round – remember INCREASE TIP = 46-48-50-52-54-56-58 stitches. When the rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cast off with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 23-27-31-36-41-44-48 cm from the division. |
