---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. See diagram for your size. INCREASE/DECREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to increase/decrease evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 88 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases/decreases to be done (e.g. 35) = 2.5. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately approx. every 2nd and 3rd stitch. On next row work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. DECREASE TIP (applies to sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread and knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. CAST-OFF TIP: To avoid a tight cast-off edge you may use a larger needle. If this also is too tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. every 4th stitch, cast off these as regular stitches. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band. 1 buttonhole = work 2 stitches together, make 1 yarn over - NOTE: It will look nicer if you decrease for buttonhole by purling 2 together in a section with 2 purl stitches (seen from right side). On next row knit yarn over to make holes. Place bottom buttonhole approx. 2 cm from bottom edge, decrease top buttonhole on neck edge, make sure that the other buttonholes are evenly placed according to these. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work neck edge and yoke back and forth on circular needle from mid front, top down. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. Work body back and forth on circular needle, top down. Work sleeves in the round on double pointed needles/a short circular needle, top down. NECK EDGE: Cast on 100-104-112-116-120-128 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with pink. Purl 1 row (= wrong side). Work next row as follows from right side: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until 3 stitches remain, knit 2 and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. When piece measures approx. 1½ cm decrease for 1 buttonhole on right band (when garment is worn) by working from right side until 5 stitches remain, purl 2 together, make 1 yarn over, knit 2 and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue like this until rib measures 3 cm. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm. Work next row as follows from wrong side: Cast off 6 stitches at beginning of row (fasten band here later), purl the next 88-92-100-104-108-116 stitches, AT THE SAME TIME increase 35-39-39-35-39-47 stitches evenly – READ INCREASE TIP, then continue rib over the remaining 5 stitches and work 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Turn piece and cast off the first 6 stitches at beginning of row, work the rest of row = 123-131-139-139-147-163 stitches. Insert 1 marker - NOW MEASURE yoke FROM HERE! Work yoke as explained below. YOKE: Work in stocking stitch with 1 edge stitch in each side for 1½-2½-3-3-4-5 cm, finish with a row from wrong side. SIZE XL-XXL-XXXL: Knit 1 row while increasing 40-40-48 stitches evenly = 123-131-139-179-187-211 stitches. Purl 1 row from wrong side. ALL SIZES: Work next row as follows from right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, work A.1 until 2 stitches remain on needle, work first stitch in A.1, finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch – Continue pattern like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! AT THE SAME TIME increase stitches evenly on every row marked with arrow in A.1 as explained below: Arrow-1: Increase 32-40-40-40-40-40 stitches evenly = 155-171-179-219-227-251 stitches. Arrow-2: Increase 24-32-32-32-32-32 stitches evenly = 179-203-211-251-259-283 stitches. Arrow-3: Increase 24-32-32-32-32-32 stitches evenly = 203-235-243-283-291-315 stitches. Continue until A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, then work in stocking stitch with pink until piece measures 15-17-18-20-22-24 cm from marker. Work next row as follows – from right side with pink: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 2, purl 2 *, repeat from *-* until 3 stitches remain, knit 2 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Work 4 rounds rib, then continue in stocking stitch. Work 2 rows in stocking stitch, on next row from right side increase 29-21-29-21-33-29 stitches evenly = 232-256-272-304-324-344 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch until piece measures 20-22-23-25-27-29 cm from marker. Work next row as follows from right side: Work 34-38-40-44-49-53 stitches as before (= front piece), slip the next 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches on 1 stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches on row (= in the side under sleeve), work 68-76-80-88-98-106 stitches as before (= back piece), slip the next 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches on 1 stitch holder for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches on row (= in the side under sleeve) and work the 34-38-40-44-49-53 stitches as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! BODY: = 148-164-176-192-216-236 stitches. Continue with pink, stocking stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch in each side. Work until piece measures 22-22-23-23-23-23 cm from division, or desired length. Knit 1 row from right side while increasing 32-32-36-40-44-48 stitches evenly = 180-196-212-232-260-284 stitches. Switch to circular needle size 4 mm , and work next row from wrong side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * purl 2, knit 2 *, repeat from *-* until 3 stitches remain on needle, purl 2 and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue rib like this for 4 cm. Then cast off stitches with garter stitch over garter stitch, knit over knit and purl over purl - make sure to avoid a tight cast-off edge - READ CAST-OFF TIP. Jacket measures approx. 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from shoulder and down. SLEEVE: Slip the 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches from stitch holder in one side of piece on double pointed needles size 5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 new stitches cast on under sleeve = 54-58-64-72-74-78 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches under sleeve and move the marker thread upwards when working. Use marker thread later when decreasing mid under sleeve. Begin on round at the marker thread and work in stocking stitch with pink. When piece measures 3 cm from division, decrease 2 stitches mid under sleeve - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 12-5-6-3-3-2 cm 3-5-6-10-9-11 times in total = 48-48-52-52-56-56 stitches. When sleeve measures 36-35-33-32-30-29 cm from division, switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm. Work rib in the round = knit 2/purl 2 for 4 cm. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl but make sure to avoid a tight cast-off edge. Sleeve measures approx. 40-39-38-36-34-33 from division. Work the other sleeve the same way. LEFT BAND: Pick up approx. 96-100-104-108-112-116 stitches from inside 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on circular needle size 4 mm with pink (number of stitches should be divisible by 4). Work rib as follows from wrong side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * purl 2, knit 2 *, repeat from *-* until 3 stitches remain on needle, purl 2 and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue rib like this for approx. 3 cm – adjust so that it is the same width as the 6 stitches cast off in the neck, to make it nice when sewing the towards each other. Loosely cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. RIGHT BAND: Work the same way as left band but after 1-1½ cm decrease evenly for 6-6-6-7-7-7 BUTTONHOLES - read explanation above. ASSEMBLY: Sew the band to the 6 stitches on the neck. Sew the buttons on to the left band. |
