What does this mean ? Knit the last 2 stitches before stitches ( ?) ..... on top of foot twisted together (i.e. in back loop of stitch instead of front), knit the first 2 stitches after stitches on top of foot together

Dear Polly, you will decrease on each side of the 26 sts for upper foot, ie work until 2 sts remain before these 26 sts (= before the 1st marker) and knit these 2 sts twisted together, then work the 26 sts for upper foot and decrease the next 2 sts (= after 2nd marker) by K2 tog. Happy knitting!

Where it says.. (the first 2 and last 2 stitches of these are knit stitches) does this mean do this on each row when working in stocking stitch back and forth over heel stitches for xx cm?
20.03.2019 - 20:13DROPS Design answered:
Dear Polly, you worked before in rib K2/P2, when keeping the first 18-22 sts on needle for heel, the first of these 18-22 sts are K2 from previous ribbing and the last of these 18-22 sts are K2 from previous ribbing, but work now all these 18-22 sts in stocking stitch. Happy knitting!

What does “AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row decrease 0-0-2 stitches evenly “ mean ? Do I do this first and then follow the instructions for Heel Decrease ?
20.03.2019 - 17:08DROPS Design answered:
Dear Gillu, you decrease 0-0-2 sts on first row worked over the 18-18-22 sts for heel, ie work 1 row over all sts decreasing 2 sts in 3rd size = 20 sts in this size, then continue until heel measures 6 cm, then work the heel decrease. Happy knitting!

Knitted socks in DROPS Fabel. Piece is knitted in 2 strands with stripes and rib. Size 35-43.
DROPS 198-13 |
|
---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (= right side): Work until 5-5-6 stitches remain, slip next stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work until 5-5-6 stitches remain, slip next stitch purlwise, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Work until 4-4-5 stitches remain, slip next stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Work until 4-4-5 stitches remain, slip next stitch purlwise, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. Continue decrease like this with 1 stitch less before each decrease until there are 10-10-10 stitches. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is knitted in 2 strands in stripes. Work in the round on double pointed needles from leg and down to heel. Then work heel back and forth before working in the round again. SOCK: Cast on 44-44-48 stitches on double pointed needles size 4 mm with 1 strand mustard and 1 strand off white. Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 2/purl 2). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 8 cm, switch to 1 strand rust and 1 strand off white, continue with rib until piece measures approx. 16 cm. Switch to 1 strand pink and 1 strand off white, work 1 round rib as before. Now keep the first 18-18-22 stitches on needle for heel (the first 2 and last 2 stitches of these are knit stitches) and slip the last 26-26-26 stitches on 1 stitch holder (= mid on top of foot). Work in stocking stitch back and forth over heel stitches for 5-5½-6 cm - AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row decrease 0-0-2 stitches evenly = 18-18-20 stitches. Insert 1 marker - now measure piece from here! Then decrease for heel - read HEEL DECREASE! After heel decrease pick up 10-10-11 stitches on each side of heel. NOTE: Make sure to pick up stitch around a whole stitch (both stitch loops). Slip the 26-26-26 stitches from stitch holder back on needle = 56-56-58 stitches. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 26-26-26 stitches on top of foot and insert 1 marker thread mid on top of foot for measuring. Then continue rib over stitches on top of foot, work the other stitches in stocking stitch - AT THE SAME TIME decrease in each side as follows: Knit the last 2 stitches before stitches on top of foot twisted together (i.e. in back loop of stitch instead of front), knit the first 2 stitches after stitches on top of foot together. Decrease like this every other round 10-8-7 times = 36-40-44 stitches. Work rib over 26-26-26 stitches on top of foot and in stocking stitch over 10-14-18 stitches under foot until piece measures 8 cm from marker thread on top of foot. Switch to 1 strand red and 1 strand off white and continue as before until piece measures 18-20-22 cm from marker on heel (= 4-4-5 cm remain). Switch to 2 strands red and insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 18-20-22 stitches both on top of foot and under foot. Then work in stocking stitch while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing for toes on each side of both markers. Decrease as follows when 3 stitches remain before marker: Knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker is between these), knit 2 twisted together. Decrease in each side on every other round a total of 3-3-4 times and then on every round a total of 3-4-4 times = 12-12-12 stitches remain on needle. On next round work all stitches together 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Knit another sock the same way. |
