CROCHET INFO: At the beginning of each round/row with double crochet, the first double crochet is replaced with 1 chain stitch. When working in the round, finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the chain stitch from the beginning of the round. When working back and forth, finish the row with 1 double crochet in the 3rd chain stitch from the beginning of the previous row. At the beginning of each round/row with treble crochet, replace the first treble crochet with 3 chain stitches. When working in the round finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch from the beginning of the round. When working back and forth finish the row with 1 treble crochet in the chain stitch from the beginning of the previous row. INCREASE TIP: Increase 1 double crochet/treble crochet by working 2 double crochets/treble crochets in the same stitch. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: The piece is first worked in the round from mid back, then worked back and forth over the head. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! Work 4 chain stitches with hook size 3 mm and BabyAlpaca Silk and form them to a ring with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. ROUND 1: READ CROCHET INFO! Work 6 double crochets around the ring. ROUND 2: Work 2 double crochets in each double crochet = 12 double crochets. ROUND 3: Work 2 treble crochets in each double crochet = 24 treble crochets. ROUND 4: * Work 1 double crochet in the first/next treble crochet, 2 double crochets in the next treble crochet *, repeat from *-* the whole round = 36 double crochets. ROUND 5: * Work 1 treble crochet in the first/next double crochet, 3 chain stitches, skip 2 double crochets *, repeat from *-* the whole round = 12 treble crochets with 3 chain stitches between each. ROUND 6: Work 1 double crochet in each treble crochet and 3 double crochets around each chain-space the whole round = 48 double crochets. ROUND 7: * Work 1 treble crochet in each of the first 2 double crochets, 2 treble crochets in the next double crochet *, repeat from *-* the whole round = 64 treble crochets. ROUND 8: * Work 1 double crochet in each of the first/next 7 treble crochets, 2 double crochets in the next treble crochet *, repeat from *-* the whole round = 72 double crochets. Stop here for sizes 0/6 + 6/12 months. ROUND 9: * Work 1 treble crochet in the first/next double crochet, 3 chain stitches, skip 2 double crochets *, repeat from *-* the whole round = 24 treble crochets with 3 chain stitches between each. ROUND 10: Work 1 double crochet in each treble crochet and 3 double crochets around each chain-space = 96 double crochets. Stop here for sizes 12/18 months + 2 years. ALL SIZES: Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round and 1 marker after 6-8-12 (12) stitches (seen from the right side = back of neck). Start from the wrong side by the marker at the beginning of the round and work 1 treble crochet in each double crochet as far as the second marker AT THE SAME TIME increase 7-15-4 (10) treble crochets evenly over these stitches – READ INCREASE TIP = 73-79-88 (94) treble crochets on the row (do not work over the 6-8-12 (12) double crochets between the 2 markers). Continue by working pattern back and forth as shown in A.1. Repeat rows 1-8 until the piece measures approx. 12-13-14 (15) cm from the markers – finish with a row from the wrong side. Cut and fasten the strands. LACE EDGE FOR THE SILK RIBBON: Work an edge at the bottom of the hat as follows: Start from the right side and work double crochets along the one short side at the bottom of the hat (work 1 double crochet in each double crochet row and 2-3 double crochets around each treble crochet row), work 1 double crochet in each of the 6-8-12 (12) double crochets between the 2 markers on the circle and work double crochets along the other short side (1 double crochet in each double crochet row and 2-3 double crochets around each treble crochet row). Turn the piece and work 1 more row with double crochets AT THE SAME TIME as you adjust the number of double crochets as follows so that they are divisible by 4 + 2. The next row is worked as follows: 3 chain stitches (equivalent to 1 treble crochet), 1 treble crochet in the next double crochet, * skip 2 double crochets, 2 chain stitches, 1 treble crochet in each of the next 2 double crochets *, repeat from *-* the rest of the row. Work 2 rows back and forth with double crochets (1 double crochet in each treble crochet and 2 double crochets around each chain-space). Cut and fasten the strands. EDGE AT THE FRONT OF THE HAT: Work 1 row with double crochets from the wrong side at the front of the hat AT THE SAME TIME as the number of double crochets is adjusted so that it is divisible by 3 + 1. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 1 chain stitch, 1 double crochet in the first stitch, * 3 chain stitches, skip 2 stitches, 1 double crochet in the next stitch *, repeat from *-* the rest of the row. Cut and fasten the strand. Thread the silk ribbon up and down through the lace row at the bottom of the hat. |
