I received several answers to my question but 2 of them I think are in German, how do I translate them into English? Thank you.

Dear Sherry, I can only see the previous answer was written in English - where was the one in German? under another pattern? Maybe you could leave us a message on this one so that we can check?

Sorry but I don't understand what is meant when it says "knit pattern 2, knit pattern 3, knit pattern 4 then knit pattern 3 or 4". Can you explain what is meant by " pattern"? Thank you Sherry
09.01.2021 - 22:22DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sherry, the word "pattern" refers here to the diagram, ie work Pattern-1 = diagram M.1, Pattern-2 = diagram M.2 etc... Read more about diagrams here. Happy knitting!

Knitted jumper with cable pattern and seed stitches in DROPS Alaska and DROPS Vienna, or DROPS Melody. Size: S – M – L – XL
DROPS 66-2 |
||||||||||||||||
Gauge: 9 sts x 11 rows with 1 strand each Alaska + Vienna, OR Alaska + Melody in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Pattern: See charts. The pattern is seen from the right side. Knitting tip: If you wish to avoid bulky side seams, you can knit the Body in the round up to the armholes. For this, cast on all sts for Back and Front at the same time, but eliminate the edge sts (1 st at each side for seam allowance) – there will be 4 fewer sts cast on. -------------------------------------------------------- Back piece: Read the Knitting tip! Cast on 41-47-53-59 sts with 1 strand Alaska + 1 strand Vienna, OR 1 strand Alaska + 1 strand Vienna. Establish pattern for all sizes on 1st row as follows (right side row): K 1, * K 3, P 3 * repeat from * - * until 4 sts remain, end with K 4. Row 2: P 1, * P 3, K 3 *, repeat from * - * until 4 sts remain, end with P 4. Knit in rib as established until the piece measures 37-38-39-40 cm, then knit Pattern 3 once and then repeat Pattern 4 to finished dimensions. When the piece measures 38-40-41-43 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 2 sts 1-1-2-2 times, 1 st 2-4-5-7 times = 33-35-35-37 sts. When the piece measures 58-60-62-64 cm bind off the center 13-13-15-15 sts for the neck. Dec 1 st at each neck edge on the next row = 9-10-9-10 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off all sts when the piece measures 60-62-64-66 cm. Front piece: Cast on 41-47-53-59 sts with 1 strand Alaska + 1 strand Vienna, OR 1 strand Alaska + 1 strand Melody. Establish pattern on Row 1 (right side row) as follows: Size S: Rib (K 4, P 3, K 3, P 3), Pattern 1 (15 sts), Rib (P 3, K 3, P 3, K 4). Size M: Rib (K 1, P 3, K 3, P 3, K 3, P 3), Pattern 1 (15 sts), Rib (P 3, K 3, P 3, K 3, P 3, K 1). Size L: Rib (K 4, P 3, K 3, P 3, K 3, P 3), Pattern 1 (15 sts), Rib (P 3, K 3, P 3, K 3, P 3, K 4). Size XL: Rib (K 1, P 3, K 3, P 3, K 3, P 3, K 3, P 3), Pattern 1 (15 sts), Rib (P 3, K 3, P 3, K 3, P 3, K 3, P 3, K 1). Continue with ribbing and pattern as established. On the third (last) row of Pattern 1 inc 4 sts as shown on chart = 45-51-57-63 sts on needles. Then knit Pattern 2 over the center 19 sts and the remaining sts in rib as established. When the piece measures 37-38-39-40 cm knit Pattern 3 over all sts, and dec 1 st at each side of cable on the first row = 41-47-53-59 sts on needles. After Pattern 3 repeat Pattern 4 to finished dimensions. When the piece measures 38-40-41-43 cm bind off for armhole at each side as for back = 33-35-35-37 sts. When the piece measures 55-57-59-61 cm put the center 7-7-9-9 sts on a st holder for the neck and knit each side separately. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 1-1-1-1 time and 1 st 2-2-2-2 times = 9-10-9-10 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 60-62-64-66 cm. Sleeve: Cast on 26-26-26-26 sts with 1 strand Alaska + 1 strand Vienna OR 1 strand Alaska + 1 strand Melody. Establish pattern on 1st row as follows: K 1 (edge st), * K 3, P 3 *, repeat from * - * until 1 st remains, K 1 (edge st). [NOTE: If you wish to knit sleeves in the round to eliminate the bulky seam, cast on 2 less sts and eliminate the edge sts in establishing the pattern. Make incs on each side of marker. When the piece measures 12-12-12-12 cm knit Pattern 3 once, then knit Pattern 4 to finished dimensions. At the same time as you begin Pattern 3 inc 1 st at each side 6-6-7-7 times every 7-6.5-5-4.5 cm = 38-38-40-40 sts - the increased sts are knit into Pattern 4 as you go along. When the sleeve measures 51-48-46-44 cm bind off for sleeve cap each side every other row: 2 sts 1-1-1-1 time, dec 1 st 2-3-6-7 times and then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 58-58-59-59 cm. Bind off all sts. Assembly: Sew all seams with 1 strand Vienna, OR 1 strand Melody. Sew right shoulder. Pick up approx. 36 - 40 sts around the neck (including sts from st holder) with 1 strand Alaska + 1 strand Vienna, OR 1 strand Alaskan and 1 strand Melody Knit Pattern 4 over all sts for approx. 12 cm. Bind off loosely in pattern. Sew left shoulder and collar in one seam. Sew in sleeves and sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. (If you have knit the body in one piece, sew sleeve seams then set in sleeves. If you have knit the sleeves in the round, just set in sleeves.) |
