Hi, I have been following the part of the pattern when it says to decrease 4 stitches in the cable, but I don't see that happening in the cardigan portrayed in the pictures. Moreover, it seems like it looks much nicer without that huge decrease that leaves just 2 stitches out of 6. I understand the reason behind, but why that one doesn't ha e it? Thanks
24.01.2026 - 07:41DROPS Design answered:
Dear Cinzia, we cast off 4 stitches for the cable and right then slip stitches onto a cable needle or cast off neck stitches. So you stop working the cables at that point. We need to decrease stitches because, when working the cable, the gauge is tighter, so we need to cast on extra stitches to work the cables. However, as we stop working the cables, we need to decrease stitches to ensure that the neck will be tight enough and not loose and wavy. Since you stop working the middle cable at this point of the cardigan it's the perfect time to readjust the number of stitches for the neck. Take note that this happens around the neck edge, so in the photo it isn't noticeable. Happy knitting!

I have two questions regarding the neck on the fronts. First, after I put the 12 on the holder do I then bind of 2 right after? Second, since it says to bind of on each row for the neck does that mean to bind off from both the right and wrong side?

Do the measurements in the chart have easy already added? So for example, if I choose size M, which has a finished bust of 36 1/4", does that mean the completed garment will have that as a maximum or is there ease included? In other words, will it stretch a bit beyond those measurements? Thank you
28.11.2024 - 16:51DROPS Design answered:
Dear Karin, the measurements are the total true measurements of the garment, not of the wearer. So, taking into account your own measurements and those of the garment in your selected size, you can see how much ease you would have for this garment. Happy knitting!
