Hi, this is a very beautiful ornament. Thank you, Drops Design. I just want to kindly remind you that there is a repeating mistake in your patterns in the "gauge section" - it should be written 10 cm x 10 cm, not 10 x 10 cm. Best regards, Airashii

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work at the end of crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 double crochet/treble crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION: At beginning of every round with treble crochets replace first treble crochet with 3 chain stitches. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round. On every round with double crochets replace first double crochet with 1 chain stitch. Finish round with 1 slip stitch in chain stitch at beginning of round. 3 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER: Work 2 treble crochets around chain stitch ring but wait with last yarn over and pull through on both these treble crochets, work 1 more treble crochet around the chain stitch ring and pull last yarn over through all 4 loops on hook. 1 RELIEF DOUBLE TREBLE CROCHET: Work 1 double treble crochet at the top of treble crochet group, i.e. do not work under the loops but around the top of treble crochet group. 2 RELIEF TRIPLE TREBLE CROCHETS FOR TIP OF STAR: Work 1 triple treble crochet around relief double treble crochet to the right (from previous round) but wait with last yarn over and pull through (2 loops on hook), work 1 triple treble crochet around relief double treble crochet to the left (from previous round) but now pull last yarn over through all 3 loops on hook - see 3rd round in diagram A.1. 1 RELIEF TREBLE CROCHET: Work 1 treble crochet around the top of star tip, i.e. do not work under the loops but around the top of relief triple treble crochets from previous round. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- CHRISTMAS BALL – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work Christmas ball in the round from the centre and outwards in 2 equal parts. Work the parts together into a Christmas ball as explained in pattern, and fill with cotton wool. At the end make a tassel at the bottom of Christmas ball and a strap at the top. PART-1: Begin with crochet hook size 3.5 mm and 1 strand in each quality (2 strands). Work 4 chain stitches - read CHAIN STITCH in explanation above, form a ring with 1 slip stitch in first chain stitch. Read CROCHET INFO and work pattern according to diagram A.1, or follow explanation below. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION! ROUND 1: * Work 3 TREBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER around chain stitch ring - read explanation above, 3 chain stitches *, work from *-* 6 times in total. ROUND 2: Work 1 slip stitch around first chain space, * 3 treble crochets around first/next chain space, 1 RELIEF DOUBLE TREBLE CROCHET - read explanation above, around the top of treble crochet group from previous round *, work from *-* 6 times in total. ROUND 3: * Work 2 treble crochets in first/next treble crochet, work 2 RELIEF TRIPLE TREBLE CROCHETS FOR TIP OF STAR - read explanation above, skip 1 treble crochet, work 2 treble crochets in next treble crochet, 1 treble crochet in next treble crochet *, work from *-* 6 times in total. ROUND 4: * Work 1 double crochet in each of the 2 first/next stitches, work 1 RELIEF TREBLE CROCHET - read explanation above, around the top of star tip, work 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, work 2 double crochets in next stitch *, work from *-* 6 times in total. When these 4 rounds have been worked, A.1 is done. Fasten off. Work another part the same way then crochet 1 slip stitch in the next stitch, do not cut the yarns. ASSEMBLY: Place the 2 parts together - make sure that beginning of round meets on both parts and that tips of star meet at the same place. Begin round at a star tip and work the 2 part together through both layers and through entire loop of stitch as follows: * 2 double crochets in stitch at star tip, 1 double crochet through each of the next 6 double crochets *, work from *-* the entire round but leave a small opening at the end of round. Fill the Christmas ball with cotton wool, and then crochet the last part of opening. Fasten off. Beginning of round is now in the middle of the Christmas ball. STRAP: Hold the Christmas ball so that beginning of round is mid under the Christmas ball. Cut a yarn DROPS Baby Merino of approx. 18 cm, pull yarn through outermost stitch at the star tip at the top of the Christmas ball, and tie a knot at the end. TASSEL: Cut 13 lengths DROPS Kid-Silk yarn of 35 cm each. Place the yarn double and pull it through the Christmas ball at the star tip at the bottom of the ball. Pull strands through loop and tighten. Cut the yarn to desired length. |
