------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. DECREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 160 stitches) and divide by the number of decreases to be made (e.g. 10) = 16. In this example, decrease by knitting together each 15th and 16th stitch. PATTERN: Neck warmer: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Wrist warmers: See diagrams A.1 and A.3. CASTING-OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 7th stitch on the neck warmer/each 6th stitch on the wrist warmers, at the same time as casting off; the yarn overs are cast off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle, top down. A double edge is worked at the top and sewn down on the wrong side to finish. NECK WARMER: Cast on a little loosely 160-180 stitches, with circular needle size 2.5 mm and BabyAlpaca Silk. Knit 1 round where you decrease 10-10 stitches evenly spaced – read DECREASE TIP = 150-170 stitches. Work 5 rounds stocking stitch for the double edge. The next round is worked as follows: * Knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* to end of round (= folding edge), then work 6 more rounds of stocking stitch. Change to circular needle size 3 mm and work A.1 in the round (= 15-17 repeats of 10 stitches). Repeat A.1 in height until the piece measures approx. 31-34 cm from the folding edge – finish after a complete repeat in height. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Work A.2 in the round (= 15-17 repeats of 10 stitches). When A.2 has been worked 1 time in height there are 210-238 stitches and the piece measures approx. 36-39 cm from the folding edge. Cast off with knit – read CASTING-OFF TIP! ASSEMBLY: Fold the edge double to the wrong side and sew down neatly with small stitches. To avoid the edge being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic. ------------------------------------------------------- WRIST WARMERS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, bottom up. A double edge is worked at the bottom and sewn down on the wrong side to finish. WRIST WARMER: Cast on a little loosely 60-70 stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and BabyAlpaca Silk. Knit 1 round where you decrease 10-10 stitches evenly spaced – read DECREASE TIP = 50-60 stitches. Work 5 rounds stocking stitch for the double edge. The next round is worked as follows: * Knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* to end of round (= folding edge). Then work 6 more rounds of stocking stitch. Work A.1 in the round (= 5-6 repeats of 10 stitches). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When A.1 has been worked a total of 4-5 times in height, work A.3 (5-6 repeats of 10 stitches). When A.3 has been worked 1 time in height there are 60-72 stitches. Work 2 RIDGES in the round – read description above. Cast off with knit – read CASTING-OFF TIP! Work 1 more wrist warmer in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Fold the bottom edge double to the wrong side and sew down neatly, with small stitches, making sure the seam is not tight. |
