Merci.

Hi. I’ve knitted up various searches but I just can’t get the required tension. Using larger kneedles with baby mention wool means it looks untidy (to me). I’ve worked it out I think and since I knit 3.4 stitches instead of the required 2.4 stitches I have cast on 102 instead of 72 for the first size. Fingers crossed! My question is will the larger Stich count have implications on other bits of the pattern please? Many thanks!

Dear Corinne, you will have to recalculate the stitchnumbers according to your gauge, otherwise you can use the measurements (lengtwise) as given. Happy Knitting!

Hei Rikke.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge in height = 2 rounds; Knit 1 round and purl 1 round. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, bottom up. HAT: Cast on (60) 72-84-88-96 (104-108) stitches with double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and Baby Merino. Work garter stitch for 4 cm. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm and continue with stocking stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Work stocking stitch until the piece measures (10) 11-12-13-14 (14-15) cm. Now insert (6) 8-7-8-8 (8-9) markers in the piece with (10) 9-12-11-12 (13-12) stitches between each one. On the next round decrease 1 stitch by knitting together the first 2 stitches after each marker (= (6) 8-7-8-8 (8-9) stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of (6) 6-6-6-6 (7-7) times = (24) 24-42-40-48 (48-45) stitches. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = (12) 12-21-20-24 (24-23) stitches. SIZES 1/3 - 6/9 -12/18 MONTHS (2 - 3/4) YEARS: Knit 1 round. Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 11-10-12 (12-12) stitches. ALL SIZES: Pull a double strand through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. (14) 15-16-17-18 (19-20) cm. CROCHETED EDGE: Crochet an edge around the bottom edge using hook size 2.5 mm as follows: 1 double crochet in the first stitch, * 3 chain stitches, 1 treble crochet in the first chain stitch, skip approx. 1 cm, 1 double crochet in the next stitch *, work from *-* to end of round and finish with 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet. |
