Gauge: 21 sts and 28 rows on 4 mm needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm . It is especially important to maintain the gauge during the raglan shaping! Pattern: * Knit 5, Purl 3. Repeat from * - *. Body: Cast on 208 (224-240) sts on circular needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit in Pattern until the work measures 36 (37-38) cm , then bind off 9 sts on each side for armholes starting at the marker and binding off as follows: Size S: Bind off 3 K sts, work in rib for 95 sts, bind off 9 sts (K3, P3, K3), work in rib for 95 sts, bind off 6 sts (K3, P3). Size M: Bind off 7 sts (K5, P2), work in rib for 103 sts, bind off 9 sts (P2, K5, P2), work in rib for 103 sts, bind off 2 P sts. Size L: Bind off 3 K sts, work in rib for 111 sts, bind off 9 sts (K3, P3, K3), work in rib for 111 sts, bind off 6 sts (K3, P3). Now a 5 st rib should be at the center front and center back on all sizes. Put the work aside. Sleeves: Cast on 48 (48-48) sts on double pointed needles. Join, being careful not to twist the sts. Place a marker at the join and knit Pattern as follows: Size S: P 2, * K 5, P 3 *. Repeat from * - *, finish with K 5, P 1. Sizes M + L: K 3, P 3, * K 5, P 3 *. Repeat from * - *, finish with K 2. At the same time, when the work measures 5 cm , inc 1 st on each side of the marker 24 (24-28) times: Sizes S + M: every 4th row. Size L: alternately every 3rd and 4th row. = 96 (96-104) sts. (Knit the increased sts into the pattern as you go along). When the work measures 45 (44-44) cm , bind off 4 sts before the marker and 5 sts after the marker. (9 sts bound off). 87 (87-95) sts. The 4 sts before the marker are as follows: Sizes S + L: K 3, P 1. Size M: P 2, K 2. The 5 sts after the marker are as follows: Sizes S + L: P 2, K 3, Size M: K 3, P 2. Put the work aside. Body: Put the sleeves in on the same circular needles as the body where 9 sts are bound off. 364 (380-412) sts on the needles. When decreasing for the raglan shaping, it is important that the same sts are decreased on the body and the sleeves. Inc 1 st in each transition between the sleeves and the body for 4 increased sts. 368 (384-416) sts. Continue the pattern upwards but keep the increased st and 2 sts on each side of the increased st in stockinette st (= 5 sts stockinette st in each transition from body to sleeve). Raglan shaping: Read the next section in its entirety before knitting! Decrease 1 st at each side of each of the 5 transition sts every other row 32 (33-34) times, then every row 2 (3-6) times (8 sts decreased per row). Decrease as follows: Before the 5 transition sts: Knit sts: Slip 1, K 1, pass the slipped st over. Purl sts: Purl 2 tog. After the 5 transition sts: Knit sts: Knit 2 tog. Purl sts: Slip 2 sts off the needle, put them back on the left needle twisted (one by one), P 2 tog into back of st. Front neck shaping should occur at the same time as the raglan shaping. When 6 (8-8) rows of the raglan decreases remain, bind off the center front 17 (19-19) sts for the neck and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Bind off at each neck edge every other row: 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 1 (2-2) times. Bind off after the last raglan decrease. The work measures approximately 57 (59.5-61.5) cm and 69 (65-65) sts remain on the needles. The sweater measures up to the shoulder 60 (62-64) cm . Assembly: Sew the 9 sts together directly under the sleeve. Pick up approximately 80-90 sts around the neck on double pointed needles. On the next row inc to 120 sts evenly distributed on the row and at the same time knit pattern as follows: * K 2, P 4 *. Repeat from * - *. (This will be seen as 4 knit sts and 2 purl sts from the right side when the neck is folded down). Bind off loosely with K and P sts when the neck measures 20 cm . |
