When making size medium and knitting the first round of A1 (KKPKK) as explained below, it won’t come out evenly with 56 stitches cast on. For size medium do I actually do as A1 says (KKPK)?
24.11.2024 - 15:31DROPS Design answered:
Dear Erica, you should work as indicated in the chart: knit, knit, purl, knit. Then, in the next round: knit, purl, purl , purl. That way you will have a kind of rib with 1 stitch in stocking stitch (1st st in A.1), 1 stitch in garter stitch (2nd st in A.1), 1 stitch in reversed stocking stitch (3rd st in A.1) and 1 stitch in garter stitch (4th stitch in A.1). Happy knitting!

I am totally surprised at the explanation for the first round of (A.1) given to Linda Gurr on 26.10.2022 kl. 08:04. This is my first try at a Drops Design pattern.I would not have understood this just reading the diagram of KKPK. Now that I am actually knitting the hat I see how you need the KKPKK to make it work. I am glad someone asked the question (in English).

I made the 192-32 but I am not pleased as mine looks different from the photo. Work A1 ( =4 stitches) (14 - 15 times in width) So I did a k, k, p, k, then continued with the next row after those four stitches, which is a K, p, p, p, and so on going up the pattern instructions. Am I doing it correct? I am working with circular needles. Thank you
25.10.2022 - 23:45DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Gurr, diagram A.1 is worked in the round as follows: 1st round: *K, K, P, K, K*, repeat from *-*; 2nd round: *K, P, P,P*, repeat from *-* - repeat 1st and 2nd round.

On hat pattern DROPS design: Pattern ee-647, City Beat, there are two knitting gauges listed--which one do I use? Why are there two?
03.01.2020 - 07:11DROPS Design answered:
Dear Jane, first of them is for stocking st - this is the basic gauge listed by all patterns. Second one is for pattern which we use on this hat - more useful for you is the second one, for patten. Happy knitting!

Knitted hipster hat in DROPS Snow with texture pattern.
DROPS 192-32 |
||||||||||
EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle, switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 56-60 stitches on circular needle size 8 mm with Snow. Work rib (= knit 1/purl 3) for 5 cm. Then work pattern A.1 (= 4 stitches) over all stitches (= 14-15 times in width). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 19-21 cm, adjust so that next round is last round in A.1, work A.2 over A.1. When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 14-15 stitches on needles. Work next round as follows: * Slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked *, work from *-* until 0-1 stitches remain, finish with knit 1 = 7-8 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 24-26 cm. |
