I’m making the Granny Rose slippers, size 7-1/2. When decreasing the toe, I cannot evenly decrease 6x, the 38 stitches I begin with. On the first decrease row, I can only decrease as follows: dec, sc4, dec, sc3, dec, sc4, dec, sc3, etc. in order to get 32 as final stitches....can you help me figure it out? In other words, I cannot figure out how to decrease 38 stitches, 6x evenly, to get 32

Dear Mrs Dalum, you will find here how to decrease evenly. Happy crocheting!

Granny rose slippers...."heel part".... a bit lost, in the increasing, am I increasing on each side of the row at end? 2 sc.? Also am I chaining 1 after each row. Also total of 6 times? If you could explain a little bit better for me, that would be great.
13.12.2018 - 16:07DROPS Design answered:
Dear Teresa, you will increase at the end of each of next 6 rows = you will have increased 3 sts on each side. Happy crocheting!

Hi, tks for your replies ! Love crochetting these slippers! One final question ---- to start heel piece, I have my Right side facing me so ... I start my First 1sc of the outmost 3 dc which would be the 3 last dc to my left before corner ! Is that correct ???? Tks again !!
27.01.2018 - 01:20DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dot, yes correct, you are starting in the last 3 dc along the last side that has not been worked yet, and you will finish this row in the first 3 dc after corner on the other side. Happy crocheting!

Thank you for such prompt reply! I want to make sure I understand when I start 1st row uner piece/sole ... i insert my hook in the corner SPACE and not in the chain 3 ???
25.01.2018 - 15:00DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dot, you start with a sc in the corner (= around the 3-ch-space) and work the last sc on row in the next corner (= around the next 3-ch-space). Happy crocheting!

25.01.2018 - 03:36DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dot, under piece is worked along one side of the square, ie start in one corner of the square (= 3-ch-space) to the next corner (= 3-ch-space). Happy crocheting!

STRIPES: * 2 rows dark old pink, 2 rows light old pink, 2 rows pistachio green, 2 rows green *, repeat from *-*. NOTE: First row with dark old pink is explained in the pattern. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 dc as follows: Insert hook in first dc and pull thread through, insert hook in next dc and pull thread through, make 1 YO and pull thread through all 3 loops on hook. -------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER: First work the granny square, then work the rest of the slipper. GRANNY SQUARE: Crochet 6 ch on hook size 4 mm with light old pink and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: 3 ch, 2 tr in ch-ring, * 3 ch, 3 tr *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. ROUND 2 (switch to dark old pink): 3 ch, 2 tr in first ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in same ch-loop, * 1 ch, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in same ch-loop *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with 1 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. ROUND 3 (switch to pistachio green): 3 ch, 2 tr in first ch-loop, 1 ch, * 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in same ch-loop, 1 ch, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 1 ch *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in same ch-loop, 1 ch and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. ROUND 4 (switch to green): 3 ch, 2 tr in first ch-loop, 1 ch, * 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in same ch-loop, 1 ch, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 1 ch, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 1 ch *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in same ch-loop, 1 ch, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 1 ch and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Cut and fasten the threads. UNDER PIECE: Work with dark old pink: 1 dc in the corner, then 1 dc in every tr and 1 dc in every ch along the one side of the square, finish with 1 dc in the corner = 17 dc. Then work dc in STRIPES – see explanation above – back and forth over these sts for 5-6-7 cm (turn every row with 1 ch). Cut and fasten the threads. Repeat in the opposite side of crochet square. Then sew these part tog mid under foot - sew in front loop of last row with dc to avoid a chunky seam mid under foot. TOE: Work with dark old pink: 1 dc in every st along one side of the square the same way as on under piece (= 17 dc), then work 19-21-23 dc along the stripes on the under side of foot = 36-38-40 dc in total. Then work STRIPES and dc in the round a total of 5-6-7 rounds (beg every round with 1 ch and finish every round with 1 sl st in first ch). Then work 5 rounds while dec 6 sts evenly on every round - READ DECREASE TIP = 6-8-10 dc. Cut the thread, baste it up and down around the tip, pull the thread to tighten and fasten tightly. HEEL PIECE: Work with dark old pink: First 1 dc in each of the outermost 3 tr along the last side of square, and 1 dc in ch-loop in the corner, then crochet up 20-22-24 dc along the stripes on the under side of foot, then work 1 dc in the corner on the square and 1 dc in each of the first 3 tr = 28-30-32 dc. Work STRIPES and dc back and forth - AT THE SAME TIME on 3rd row inc 1 dc at the end of row by working 2 dc in last dc. Repeat inc at the end of every row a total of 6 times (i.e. 3 times in each side) = 34-36-38 dc. Continue with dc until the entire slipper measures approx. 22-24-27 cm. Cut the thread, fold the slipper double and sew tog edge to edge mid back on heel. Then finish by working 1 round dc with dark old pink around the opening on the slipper. |
