------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. The diagrams are read from right to left when working from the right side and left to right when working from the wrong side. INCREASE TIP: Start at the beginning of the round, make 1 yarn over, work to end of round as before, make 1 yarn over (2 increased stitches). The marker-thread sits between the 2 increases. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Work the new stitches into pattern A.1. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The piece is worked bottom up in the round as far as the armholes. Cables are only worked on the front piece. The piece is then divided and the front and back pieces are finished separately back and forth. The sleeves are worked in the round, bottom up. The pieces are sewn together. Stitches are knitted up around the neckline and the neck is worked in the round to finish. BODY: Cast on 172-192-192-212-212 stitches slightly loosely with circular needle size 3 mm and DROPS Karisma, making sure the cast-on edge is not tight. Work rib in the round (knit 1 and purl 1) for 5 cm. Change to circular needle size 4.5 mm. Knit 1 round and decrease 12-16-16-20-20 stitches evenly on this round = 160-176-176-192-192 stitches. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round (mid-under the sleeve), count 86-94-94-102-102 stitches (= front piece), insert 1 marker on the needle (mid-under the sleeve), there are 74-82-82-90-90 stitches left (= back piece). Continue in the round as follows: Work 18-22-22-26-26 moss stitches (A.1), work A.2 (14 stitches), A.3 (22 stitches) and A.4 (14 stitches) across the next 50 stitches, and moss stitch (A.1) to end of round. Work until the piece measures 20-22-23-23-25 cm, with the last round an even round in the diagrams, so the cables are continued from the right side after dividing. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Divide the piece at the markers and finish the front and back pieces separately. Do not cut the strand but continue from the right side. FRONT PIECE: = 86-94-94-102-102 stitches. With the first row from the right side, continue the pattern back and forth with A.2, A.3 and A.4 across the middle 50 stitches and A.1 on each side. Work until the piece measures 33-36-38-40-42 cm. On the next row from the right side, cast off the middle 26-28-28-30-30 stitches for the neckline and finish each shoulder separately. SHOULDERS: = 30-33-33-36-36 stitches. Continue the pattern back and forth, casting off on every 2nd row for the neckline as follows: 3 stitches 1 time, 2 stitches 1 time, 1 stitch 2 times = 23-26-26 29-29 stitches. Work until the piece measures 37-40-43-45-48 cm. Cast off. BACK PIECE: = 74-82-82-90-90 stitches. Continue the moss stitch (A.1) back and forth until the piece measures 37-40-43-45-48 cm. Cast off. SLEEVES: The sleeves are worked in the round, bottom up. Cast on 48-48-50-50-52 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 mm, making sure the cast-on edge is not tight. Work rib in the round (knit 1 and purl 1) for 5 cm. Insert 1 marker-thread at the beginning of the round (mid-under the sleeve). Change to double pointed needles size 4.5 mm. Knit 1 round and increase 4-4-4-4-2 stitches evenly on the round = 52-52-54-54-54 stitches. Work A.2 (14 stitches), A.3 (22 stitches) and A.4 (14 stitches) across the middle 50 stitches on top of the sleeve. The remaining 1-1-2-2-2 stitches on each side are worked in moss stitch (A.1). NOTE: The moss stitch will not fit under the sleeve until after you have increased on each side of the marker-thread. The round begins by the marker-thread. Continue the pattern. AT THE SAME TIME increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread every 1½ cm, 13-15-18-22-24 times – read INCREASE TIP = 78-82-90-98-102 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 29-32-37-40-45 cm. Cast off slightly loosely. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder-seams stitch to stitch. Sew the sleeves to the body. You can sew in shoulder-pads if you wish. NECK: Use circular needle size 3 mm. Start on one shoulder-seam and knit up 74-78-80-84-88 stitches around the neckline. Knit 5-6-6-7-7 rounds, purl 1 round (= folding-edge), knit 5-6-6-7-7 rounds. Cast off slightly loosely. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic |
