------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE MARKER: Slip the yarn over off the left needle and replace it twisted (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. AFTER MARKER: Knit through the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. The neck is folded double and fastened to the inside. NECK: Cast on 90-96-102-102-108-114 stitches with circular needle size 5,5 mm, 1 strand DROPS Daisy and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (= 2 strands), or 1 strand DROPS Merino Extra Fine and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Change to circular needle size 4 mm (casting on with a larger needle size makes the neck elastic). Work rib in the round (knit 1, purl 2) for 9 cm. This neck is folded double later, to a height of approx. 4 cm. The beginning of the round is on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 30-32-33-33-35-36 stitches (approx. mid-front), the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5,5 mm. Insert 4 markers without working the stitches as follows (each marker is inserted in a stitch - raglan-stitch, which is worked in stocking stitch). Insert 1 marker in the first stitch, count 14 stitches (= sleeve), Insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 29-32-35-35-38-41 stitches (= front piece), Insert 1 marker in the next stitch, count 14 stitches (= sleeve), Insert 1 marker in the next stitch; there are 29-32-35-35-38-41 stitches after the last marker (= back piece). Work stocking stitch in the round and increase for RAGLAN on each side of all 4 markers – read description above. Increase for raglan every 2nd round a total of 16-19-20-22-22-22 times = 218-248-262-278-284-290 stitches (= 8 stitches increased on each increase-round). Remember to maintain the knitting tension. The increases on the sleeves are now finished, continue to increase for raglan on the front and back pieces every 2nd round, 3-1-1-1-2-4 more times = 230-252-266-282-292-306 stitches (= 4 stitches increased on each increase-round). Continue working without further increases until the yoke measures 20-21-23-24-25-27 cm from the marker on the neck. Now divide for body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work as follows on the next round: Knit 1 (= belongs to back piece), place the next 46-52-54-58-58-58 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-12-16-18 stitches (= in side mid-under sleeve), knit 69-74-79-83-88-95 (= front piece), place the next 46-52-54-58-58-58 stitches on a thread for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-12-16-18 stitches (= in side mid-under sleeve), knit the last 68-73-78-82-87-94 stitches (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 154-164-178-190-208-226 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-8-10-12-16-18 stitches cast on under 1 sleeve. Work to this marker; the round now starts here. Work stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 41-44-46-47-49-51 cm from the marker mid-front. Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 2), increasing 17-19-23-23-26-29 stitches evenly on the first round = 171-183-201-213-234-255 stitches. When the rib measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, cast off a little loosely. The jumper measures approx. 45-48-50-52-54-56 cm from the marker mid-front and 49-52-54-56-58-60 cm from top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 46-52-54-58-58-58 sleeve-stitches from the thread on one side of the piece on short circular needle size 5,5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-12-16-18 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 54-60-64-70-74-76 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-8-10-12-16-18 stitches under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and work stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 2 cm, decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 9-5-4-2½-2-2 cm a total of 4-7-8-11-12-12 times = 46-46-48-48-50-52 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 35-34-32-31-30-28 cm from the division. Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm. Work rib (knit 1, purl 2), AT THE SAME TIME increase 8-8-9-9-10-11 stitches evenly on the first round = 54-54-57-57-60-63 stitches. When the rib measures 8-8-8-9-9-9 cm, cast off a little loosely with rib. The sleeve measures approx. 43-42-40-40-39-37 cm. ASSEMBLY: Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight and rolling outwards, it is important that the seam is elastic. |
