------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. INCREASE TIP (sleeves): Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker, 1 yarn over, knit 4 (marker sits between these 4 stitches), 1 yarn over. On the next round knit the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The body is worked in the round on circular needle and bottom up. The piece is divided for the armholes and the front and back pieces finished separately back and forth on circular needle. The sleeves are worked in the round with double pointed needles/short circular needle. The piece is sewn together and stitches are knitted up for the neck. BODY: Cast on 192-204-222-240-264-285 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and 1 strand DROPS Merino Extra Fine and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands). Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 2, purl 1) in the round for 4 cm. Change to circular needle size 5.5 mm. Knit 2 rounds and decrease 22-22-24-26-30-31 stitches evenly on the first round = 170-182-198-214-234-254 stitches. Insert 1 marker at the beginning of the round and 1 marker after 85-91-99-107-117-127 stitches. Allow them to follow your work onwards. Continue as follows: * Knit 5-8-3-7-3-8, work A.1 over the next 72-72-90-90-108-108 stitches, work the first 3 stitches in A.1 and knit 5-8-3-7-3-8 *, work from *-* 1 more time. Continue this pattern until the piece measures 33-34-35-36-37-38 cm from the cast-on edge – adjust so the next round is row 1 or 7 in A.1 (because the number of stitches varies in A.1). On the next round work the armholes: Cast off 2-3-6-8-11-15 stitches, work 81-85-87-91-95-97 stitches as before, cast off 4-6-12-16-22-30 stitches (the marker sits in the middle of these stitches), work 81-85-87-91-95-97 stitches as before, cast off the last 2-3-6-8-11-15 stitches. Cut the strand. Finish the back and front pieces separately, working back and forth. BACK PIECE: = 81-85-87-91-95-97 stitches. Start from the wrong side, work 3-5-6-8-1-2 stitches in stocking stitch, A.1 as before over the next 72-72-72-72-90-90 stitches, work the first 3 stitches in A.1 and 3-5-6-8-1-2 stitches in stocking stitch. When the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm, continue with stocking stitch over all stitches. AT THE SAME TIME on the first row decrease 6 stitches evenly spaced = 75-79-81-85-89-91 stitches. When the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm and the next row is from the right side work the neck as follows: Knit 25-26-27-28-30-30, cast off 25-27-27-29-29-31 stitches, knit 25-26-27-28-30-30. Each shoulder is finished separately. LEFT SHOULDER (back): = 25-26-27-28-30-30 stitches. Start from the wrong side and work as before. On the first row from the right side decrease for the neck as follows: Knit 2, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, knit to the end of the row = 24-25-26-27-29-29 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch. Cast off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the cast-on edge. RIGHT SHOULDER (back): = 25-26-27-28-30-30 stitches. Start from the wrong side and work as before. On the first row from the right side decrease for the neck as follows: Work as before until there are 4 stitches left, knit 2 together, knit 2 = 24-25-26-27-29-29 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch. Cast off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the cast-on edge. FRONT PIECE: = 81-85-87-91-95-97 stitches. Start from the wrong side, work 3-5-6-8-1-2 stitches in stocking stitch, work A.1 as before over the next 72-72-72-72-90-90 stitches, work the first 3 stitches in A.1 and 3-5-6-8-1-2 stitches in stocking stitch. When the piece measures 42-48-45-47-48-50 cm, continue with stocking stitch over the 4 middle repeats of A.1. When the piece measures 44-46-47-49-50-52 cm and the next row is from the right side, work the neck as follows: Work 26-27-28-29-31-31 stitches as before, purl 3 together, knit 2, knit 19-21-21-23-23-25 and then place these stitches on a thread, knit 2, purl 3 together, work 26-27-28-29-31-31 stitches as before. Each shoulder is finished separately. RIGHT SHOULDER (front): = 29-30-31-32-34-34 stitches. Start from the wrong side and work as before. AT THE SAME TIME, on the next row from the right side, decrease 1 stitch by the neck as follows: Work 2 stitches in stocking stitch, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over, work as before to the end of the row. Repeat this decrease on the next row from the right side = 27-28-29-30-32-32 stitches. When the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm, continue with stocking stitch over all stitches, AT THE SAME TIME, on the first row decrease 3 stitches evenly spaced = 24-25-26-27-29-29 stitches. Cast off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the cast-on edge. LEFT SHOULDER (front): = 29-30-31-32-34-34 stitches. Start from the wrong side and work as before. AT THE SAME TIME, on the next row from the right side, decrease 1 stitch by the neck as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left, knit 2 together and 2 stitches in stocking stitch. SLEEVES: Cast on 48-48-51-54-54-57 stitches with double pointed needles size 4 mm and 1 strand of each quality (2 strands). Knit 1 round. Work rib (knit 2, purl 1) in the round for 4 cm. Knit 1 round and decrease 8-6-7-10-8-9 stitches evenly spaced = 40-42-44-44-46-48 stitches. Insert a marker at the beginning of the round (mid-under sleeve). Allow the marker to follow your work onwards – it is used when increasing under the sleeve. Change to double pointed needles size 5.5 mm and work stocking stitch. When the sleeve measures 9-9-9-8-8-7 cm, increase 1 stitch on each side of the marker – read INCREASE TIP. Increase like this every 4-3½-3-3-2½-2½ cm a total of 10-11-12-13-14-14 times = 60-64-68-70-74-76 stitches. When the piece measures 49-48-46-45-43-41 cm, divide at the marker and work the sleeve cap back and forth. Cast off when the sleeve measures 50 cm. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams with a flat seam. Sew in the sleeves, inside 1 edge stitch. NECK: Use short circular needle size 4 mm and 1 strand of each quality. Start from the right side on one shoulder and knit up 81-84-87-90-93-99 stitches around the neck (including the stitches from the thread) – the number of stitches should be divisible by 3. Work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 1) for 8 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl.. |
