Bon tricot!

Is there a correction for this pattern, as it looks like all the inside shaping cant take place within the 40cm length guideline?
07.09.2020 - 14:05DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Moyle, there is no correction to this pattern - make sure to check your tension (= 24 sts x 39 rows in seed stitch with larger needle = 10 x 10 cm). Happy knitting!

Knitting tension: 24 stitches x 39 rows with needle size 3 mm and moss stitch = 10 x 10 cm. Remember needle size is only a guide! Moss stitch: * Row 1: K1, P1. Row 2: Knit over purl and purl over knit *. Repeat row 2. Ridge/Garter stitch (back and forth on needle): 1 ridge = Knit 2 rows. ----------------------------------------------------------- Right front piece: Cast on 94 (100-108) stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in each side for seam) with needle size 2.5 mm and off white and work 1 ridge. Change to needle size 3 mm and work moss stitch upwards. Remember the knitting tension. (NOTE! It is especially important that the knitting tension is right in height or the diagonal decreases on the flaps will be wrong). When piece measures 3 cm increase in right side: 1 stitch x 1, at the same time as the left side increases every 12th (10th-11th) row: 1 stitch x 4 (5-5). At the same time, when piece measures 6 cm (approx. 96 (102-110) stitches on needle) decrease from right side towards mid front on inside of edge stitch, which is worked in garter stitch, every 2nd row: 2 stitches x 19 (18-18), 1 stitch x 16 (21-25), and every 4th row: 1 stitch x 13 (13-13). Decrease 2 stitches as follows: Knit or purl 3 stitches together, depending on what fits the moss stitch best. Decrease 1 stitch as follows: Knit or purl 2 stitches together, depending on what fits the moss stitch best. (Tip! It is easiest to purl 3 stitches together with strand in front of piece). At the same time, when piece measures 19 (20-21) cm cast off for armhole in left side every 2nd row: 3 stitches x 2, 2 stitches x 3 (4-4), 1 stitch x 3 (3-4). When the casting-off for armhole has been finished, there are 17 (19-22) stitches left on needle. When piece measures 38 (40-42) cm cast off from shoulder towards neck every 2nd row: 3 (4-4) stitches x 5 (1-4), 2 (3-3) stitches x 1 (5-2). Now all stitches should have been cast off and piece measures approx. 41 (43-45) cm. Left front piece: Cast on and work as for right front piece, but in reverse. Back piece: Cast on 94 (100-108) stitches (incl. 1 edge stitch in each side for seam) with needle size 2.5 mm and off white and work 1 ridge. Change to needle size 3 mm and work moss stitch upwards. Remember the knitting tension. When piece measures 3 cm increase in each side every 12th (10th-11th) row: 1 stitch x 4 (5-5) = 102 (110-118) stitches. When piece measures 19 (20-21) cm cast off for armholes as for front piece = 72 (76-82) stitches. When piece measures 38 (40-42) cm cast off from shoulder towards neck as for front piece. At the same time, when piece measures 39 (41-43) cm cast off the middle 32 (32-32) stitches for neck. Then cast off towards neck every 2nd row: 2 stitches x 1, 1 stitch x 1. When the casting-off for shoulder is finished, all stitches should have been cast off and piece measures approx. 41 (43-45) cm. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Lay right front piece over left and sew side seams (front pieces are double at bottom in each side). Crochet edges: Work with 2 strands from right side with off white and hook size 4 mm as follows: 1 row of approx. 150-160 double crochets around the garter stitch edge along flaps and around neck. Then work the next row from right side as follows: Work a row of double crochets in opposite direction, i.e. from left to right without turning piece. Work double crochets from right side in each double crochet from previous row (=lobster stitch). Repeat both rows around armholes with approx. 60-70 double crochets. If necessary you can sew the right and left front pieces together bottom edge, so that they stay in place. You can also sew 1 stitch mid front so that the flaps stay in place. |
