Thanks for your response. I did exactly that, but because it’s my first time knitting with cotton yarn, I thought minus ease would have been a better choice hence the question. Sorry but I don’t have any garment in cotton to make an informed decision. Hence the question.

Dear Mrs Hunt, these infos might help you choosing size and ease. Happy knitting!

Hi, what size is the model wearing. Correct spi but seems a bit loose so I was wondering if I should have made this a size smaller. I would have preferred negative ease.

Hi, Sharon, you can see all the measurements for this garment in the diagram below the pattern. You can compare these to a garment you have that has your preferred proportions and choose the size closest to this. Happy knitting!

Starting the edging of the sleeve shortly. Am knitting the XXL. Not sure what the pattern wants me to do when it comes to the increases. For this size it says to increase 0 times but am supposed to have 112 on the needles is the final stitch count. The original stitch count is 114 which I have on the needles. Question 🙋🏻♀️ what does the pattern really wants the knitter to do ✅ here? Thanks for clarifying.
16.05.2026 - 12:48DROPS Design answered:
Dear Sharon, you decrease 2 stitches once; you decrease 1 time and every 0cm, because you won't repeat it anymore. Happy knitting!

Hi, working the increases for the sleeves. I set up per pattern but looks kind strange/weird. The 14 sts is between the increases.
29.04.2026 - 19:21DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Hunt, when increasing for sleeves you will increase on each side of the 14 sts, ie after the stitch with the marker before sleeve and before the next stitch with a marker at the end of sleeve, so that on first increase round you will have: 1 st with marker, 1 st inc, 14 sts, 1 st inc (- 16 sts for sleeve), 1 st with marker - and same for 2nd sleeve. Can this help? Happy knitting!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On the next round, work the yarn overs as follows. BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH (yarn-over twists to right): Slip the yarn-over purl-wise from the left to the right needle, replace it on the left needle the other way round (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the front of the needle (avoids a hole). AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH (yarn-over twists to left): Knit through the stitch loop that lies on the back of the needle (avoids a hole). DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for your size. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from mid-back. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. NECK: Cast on 110-116-120-124-130-136-144 stitches with circular needle size 3.5 mm and DROPS Safran. Knit 2 rounds (= rolled edge). Knit 1 round of rib (knit 1, purl 1). Work 4 cm of stocking stitch. The round begins mid-back. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the round (mid-front), the piece is now measured from here. YOKE: Insert 4 markers without working the stitches, each marker inserted into a stitch (raglan-stitches). You will increase for raglan on each side of these raglan-stitches. Count 19-21-22-23-24-26-28 stitches (= half the back piece), insert marker-1 in the next stitch, count 14 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-2 in the next stitch, count 39-42-44-46-49-52-56 stitches (= front piece), insert marker-3 in the next stitch, count 14 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker-4 in the next stitch. There are 20-21-22-23-25-26-28 stitches after marker-4 (= half the back piece). Work stocking stitch in the round and increase for RAGLAN on each side of all raglan-stitches – read explanation above for how to work the yarn overs on the next round. Increase for raglan every 2nd round 28-30-33-36-38-39-42 times (8 stitches increased on each increase-round) = 334-356-384-412-434-448-480 stitches. The sleeve-increases are finished. Continue increasing for raglan on the front and back pieces every 2nd round, 1-1-1-1-3-5-6 more times (4 stitches increased on each increase-round) = 338-360-388-416-446-468-504 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch without further increases until the piece measures 20-21-22-24-26-28-30 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Knit the first 48-52-56-60-65-70-76 stitches (= half the back piece), place the next 72-76-82-88-92-94-100 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 stitches (= mid-under the sleeve), knit 97-104-112-120-131-140-152 (= front piece), place the next 72-76-82-88-92-94-100 stitches on a stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 stitches (= mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 49-52-56-60-66-70-76 stitches (= half the back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. BODY: = 210-228-248-268-294-320-348 stitches. Insert 1 marker-thread in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 cast-on stitches under each sleeve. Allow these threads to follow your work onwards, they are used when decreasing each side of the body. Knit to the first marker-thread. The round starts here. Continue stocking stitch in the round for 3 cm. Now decrease 1 stitch on each side of both marker-threads – read DECREASE TIP (4 decreased stitches). Repeat this decrease when the body measures 8 cm from the division = 202-220-240-260-286-312-340 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 36-38-40-41-43-45-47 cm from the marker mid-front. On the next round decrease 2-0-0-2-4-4-4 stitches = 200-220-240-258-282-308-336 stitches. Now work flounces, i.e. work A.1, 40-44-40-43-47-44-48 times on the round. When A.1 is finished in height there are 320-352-360-387-423-440-480 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch until the piece measures 45-47-49-51-53-55-57 cm from the marker. Cast off alternately with knit and purl. The jumper measures approx. 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 72-76-82-88-92-94-100 sleeve-stitches from one stitch holder onto circular needle size 3.5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 80-86-94-102-108-114-122 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-16-20-22 stitches under the sleeve. The round starts by the marker-thread. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, on the next round decrease mid-under the sleeve – remember DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 5-3-1½-1½-1½-0-0 cm a total of 2-3-5-4-3-1-1 times = 76-80-84-94-102-112-120 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 8-8-8-6-5-3-1 cm from the division. Work 1 round of rib (knit 1, purl 1). Knit 1 round. Cast off with knit. The sleeve measures approx. 9-9-9-7-6-4-2 cm from the division. |
