---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP (evenly): To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 108 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 12) = 9. In this example increase by making 1 yarn over after every 9th stitch. On next round work yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Work the entire pattern in stocking stitch. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the knitting tension to tighten when working pattern, it is important not to tighten the strands on back side of piece. Use a larger needle size when working pattern if needed. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder back and work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Fold the neck edge double against the wrong side and fasten. NECK EDGE: Cast on 108-108-112-116-120-124-128 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with DROPS Lima in colour Chestnut or DROPS Karisma in colour Cocoa Bean. Switch to circular needle size 3 mm (cast on on a larger needle to get an elastic cast-on edge). Work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 8-8-8-8-10-10-10 cm. Later the neck edge is folded in towards wrong side and assembled to form a neck edge of approx. 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm. Beginning of round is at right shoulder at the back. Insert 1 marker after the first 36-36-37-39-40-41-43 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Switch to circular needle size 4 mm and knit 1 round and increase 12-14-16-16-18-18-20 stitches evenly - read INCREASE TIP = 120-122-128-132-138-142-148 stitches on needle. Then work in stocking stitch. Remember to follow the knitting tension! When yoke measures 4-4-4-4-4-4-4 cm from marker, increase 28-30-36-36-44-42-46 stitches evenly – remember INCREASE TIP = 148-152-164-168-182-184-194 stitches. Continue in stocking stitch until piece measures 8-8-8-8-9-9-9 cm from marker. On next round work PATTERN – see explanation above. Work A.1 over all stitches while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 38-46-52-54-58-62-64 stitches evenly = 186-198-216-222-240-246-258 stitches. Read KNITTING TIP! Continue pattern like this and increase stitches evenly on every round with arrow as explained below - remember INCREASE TIP: Arrow-1: Increase 38-54-50-58-54-62-64 stitches evenly = 224-252-266-280-294-308-322 stitches. Continue A.1. Arrow-2: Increase 44-48-58-58-62-66-70 stitches evenly = 268-300-324-338-356-374-392 stitches. Continue A.1. Arrow-3: Increase 44-48-48-46-52-58-64 stitches evenly = 312-348-372-384-408-432-456 stitches. Continue A.1. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 22-22-23-24-25-27-29 cm from marker mid front, divide piece for body and sleeves. If A.1 has not been finished vertically before piece measures 22-22-23-24-25-27-29 cm, divide the piece in the middle of pattern – then continue the pattern after division, make sure to divide in the middle of a pattern border (and not on a round with only colour Chestnut/Cocoa Bean). NOTE! All increases in A.1 must be finished before dividing the piece. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Slip the 62-70-76-78-80-82-84 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-10-12-14-16 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 94-104-110-114-124-134-144 stitches in stocking stitch (= front piece), slip the next 62-70-76-78-80-82-84 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-10-12-14-16 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work in stocking stitch over the last 94-104-110-114-124-134-144 stitches (= back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 200-220-236-248-272-296-320 stitches. If A.1 was not finished before dividing the piece, continue pattern on body until it is finished. The pattern will not fit in the side under sleeves but work pattern so that it continues over pattern from yoke and as far in as possible to the side mid under sleeves. When the pattern is finished, work in stocking stitch with colour Chestnut/Cocoa Bean until piece measures 53-55-57-59-60-61-63 cm from marker mid front. Switch to circular needles size 3 mm, work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 20-20-24-24-28-28-28 stitches evenly on 1st round = 220-240-260-272-300-324-348 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm cast off. Jumper measures 57-59-61-63-65-66-68 cm from marker mid front and approx. 62-64-66-68-70-72-74 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 62-70-76-78-80-82-84 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 4 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-10-12-14-16 stitches cast on under sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 68-76-84-88-92-96-100 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 6-6-8-10-12-14-16 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. If A.1 was not finished before dividing the piece, continue pattern on sleeve until it is finished. The pattern will not fit in the side under the sleeve but work pattern so that it continues over pattern from yoke and as far in as possible to the mid under the sleeve. When pattern has been worked, work in stocking stitch in the round with colour Chestnut/Cocoa Bean, AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 3 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 8-8-5-5-5-5-5 cm 2-4-6-6-6-6-6 times in total = 64-68-72-76-80-84-88 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 46-47-47-46-46-44-43 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 8-8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches evenly on 1st round = 72-76-80-84-88-92-96 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm cast off. Sleeve measures approx. 50-51-51-50-51-49-48 cm from division. ASSEMBLY: Fold the neck edge at the top of neck down on the inside of garment. Fasten neck edge to get a double neck edge. To avoid a tight neck edge that sticks out it is important to keep the seam elastic. |
