---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in back loop of stitch. INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE RIGHT: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the back and knit stitch in front loop of stitch. INCREASE TIP-2: INCREASE 2 STITCHES TOWARDS THE LEFT: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in back loop of stitch without slipping the stitch off left needle, then knit 1 more stitch in front loop of same stitch (= 2 stitches increased). INCREASE 2 STITCHES TOWARDS THE RIGHT: Use left needle to pick up yarn between 2 stitches from row below, pick up yarn from the front and knit stitch in back loop of stitch without slipping the stitch off left needle, then knit 1 more stitch in back loop of same stitch (= 2 stitches increased). SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from mid back, work top down. When yoke is done, divide stitches for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 88-92-96-96-100-104-108 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm with DROPS Air. Work rib in the round (= knit 1/purl 1) for 3-3-3-3-3½-3½-3½ cm. Insert 1 marker at beginning of round = mid back. Knit 1 round while at the same time increasing 4 stitches evenly = 92-96-100-100-104-108-112 stitches. YOKE: Now insert 4 markers on needle, use the markers when increasing for saddle shoulders. Switch to circular needle size 5 mm and work next round as follows: Work in stocking stitch over the first 14-15-16-16-17-18-19 stitches (= approx. half back piece), insert 1st marker here. Work in stocking stitch over the next 19 stitches (= shoulder stitches), insert 2nd marker here. Work in stocking stitch over the next 27-29-31-31-33-35-37 stitches (= front piece), insert 3rd marker here. Work in stocking stitch over the next 19 stitches (= shoulder stitches), insert 4th marker here. Work in stocking stitch over the last 13-14-15-15-16-17-18 stitches (= approx. half back piece). SADDLE SHOULDER INCREASE: ROUND 1: * Work in stocking stitch until next marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right – read INCREASE TIP-1, move marker on to right needle, work 19 stitches in stocking stitch, move marker on to right needle, increase 1 stitch towards the left *, work from *-* 1 more time, knit the rest of row (= 4 stitches increased). ROUND 2: Work in stocking stitch over all stitches. ROUND 3: Work as 1st ROUND (= 4 stitches increased). ROUND 4: Work in stocking stitch over all stitches. ROUND 5: * Work in stocking stitch until next marker, increase 2 stitches towards the right – read INCREASE TIP-2, move marker on to right needle, work 19 stitches in stocking stitch, move marker on to right needle, increase 2 stitches towards the left *, work from *-* 1 more time, knit the rest of row (= 8 stitches increased). ROUND 6: Work in stocking stitch over all stitches. Work 1st to 6th ROUND until 24-26-26-28-28-26-26 rounds have been worked (= 12-13-13-14-14-13-13 increases have been done in total, and 64-68-68-72-72-68-68 stitches have been increased in total) = 156-164-168-172-176-176-180 stitches. Remember to follow the knitting tension! There are 19 stitches on shoulder and 59-63-65-67-69-69-71 stitches on front piece/back piece. Then increase for sleeves as explained below. SLEEVE INCREASE: Work in stocking stitch - AT THE SAME TIME increase 4 stitches on round as follows: Increase 1 stitch towards the left AFTER 1st and 3rd marker and increase 1 stitch towards the right BEFORE 2nd and 4th marker – remember INCREASE TIP-1. Now only increase on sleeves and number of stitches on back piece and front piece stays the same. Increase like this every other round 8-9-9-8-7-4-1 times = 188-200-204-204-204-192-184 stitches. YOKE INCREASE: Work in stocking stitch - AT THE SAME TIME increase 8 stitches on round, increase 1 stitch both before and after each marker. Remember INCREASE TIP-1 and work as follows: * Work until 2 stitches remain before first marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right, work 2 stitches, move marker on to right needle, increase 1 stitch towards the left, work until next marker, increase 1 stitch towards the right, move marker on to right needle, work 2 stitches, increase 1 stitch towards the left *, work from *-* one more time, then work the rest of round as before. Increase like this every 4th round 2-0-1-1-1-2-4 times and then every other round 7-10-10-12-15-18-20 times = 260-280-292-308-332-352-376 stitches. Piece measures approx. 23-23-25-26-28-30-32 cm from edge on shoulder and down (= 6 cm saddle shoulder depth and 17-17-19-20-22-24-26 cm sleeve increases). Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work as before over the first 39-42-44-47-51-55-60 stitches (= approx. half back piece), slip the next 53-57-59-61-65-67-69 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 4-6-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches on needle (= in the side under sleeve), work as before over the next 77-83-87-93-101-109-119 stitches, slip the next 53-57-59-61-65-67-69 stitches on a thread for sleeve and cast on 4-6-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches on needle (= in the side under sleeve), work as before over the last 38-41-43-46-50-54-59 stitches. Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 162-178-190-206-222-242-262 stitches. Insert 1 marker in one side of piece (= in the middle of the 4-6-8-10-10-12-12 stitches that were cast on under sleeve). Work until marker, round begins here and work in the round. Work in stocking stitch until piece measures 34-36-36-37-36-36-36 cm from where stitches on were cast on under sleeve. Switch to circular needles size 4 mm and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 20-20-22-26-26-28-30 stitches evenly on 1st round = 182-198-212-232-248-270-292 stitches. When rib measures 3-3-3-3-4-4-4 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jumper measures approx. 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm from the edge of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 53-57-59-61-65-67-69 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 5 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 4-6-8-10-10-12-12 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 57-63-67-71-75-79-81 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 4-6-8-10-10-12-12 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 6-4½-4-3½-3-2½-2½ cm 6-8-9-10-11-12-12 times in total = 45-47-49-51-53-55-57 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 39-40-38-37-35-33-31 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 7-7-7-7-7-7-7 stitches evenly on 1st round = 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 stitches. When rib measures 6-6-6-6-7-7-7 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 45-46-44-43-42-40-38 cm from division. |
