Bon tricot!

Can you please explain pattern A1
24.10.2024 - 07:21DROPS Design answered:
Dear Letisia, work A.1 from bottom up and right to left on every round as follows: R1: P2. R2+3: K1, P1. R3: K2. Repeat these 4 rounds. Incorporate the new stitches increased as in pattern so that th pattern is getting larger without being broken over the remaining stitches. Happy knitting!

Bonjour.

Danke!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP (evenly spaced): To work out how to increase evenly, count the total number of stitches on the needle (e.g. 76 stitches) and divide by the number of increases to be made (e.g. 14) = 5.4. In this example, increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately each 5th and 6th stitch. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. RAGLAN: Increase to raglan in each transition between the body and sleeves: Increasing after the marker: Knit 1, make 1 yarn over. Increasing before the marker: Work until there is 1 stitch left before the marker, make 1 yarn over, knit 1. 2 stitches increased at each marker, 8 stitches increased on each increase-round. On the next round work the yarn overs twisted to avoid holes. Then work the new stitches in stocking stitch on the sleeves and in A.1 on the front/back pieces. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 1 stitch on either side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker thread, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, knit the marker-stitch, knit 2 together (2 stitches decreased). CASTING-OFF TIP: To avoid the cast-off edge being tight you can cast off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as casting off; the yarn overs are cast off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, from mid back and top down. The yoke is divided for the body and sleeves and the body is continued in the round with circular needle. The sleeves are worked with double pointed needles, top down. NECK: Cast on 76-80-84-88-92-96 stitches with short circular needle/double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and DROPS Merino Extra Fine. Knit 1 round, then work rib in the round (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 cm. Knit 1 round where you increase 14 stitches evenly spaced – read INCREASE TIP = 90-94-98-102-106-110 stitches. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 4 mm. Insert 4 markers as described below, without working the stitches; these markers are used when increasing to raglan. Insert marker 1 at the beginning of the round, count 14 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker 2 before the next stitch, count 31-33-35-37-39-41 stitches (= front piece), insert marker 3 before the next stitch, count 14 stitches (= sleeve), insert marker 4 before the next stitch. There are 31-33-35-37-39-41 stitches after the last marker (back piece). Work A.1 on the front and back pieces and stocking stitch on the sleeves. Increase to RAGLAN on each side of the 4 markers – read description above (= 8 stitches increased). REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue with pattern and stocking stitch, AT THE SAME TIME increase to raglan every 2nd round a total of 16-17-18-19-20-21 times (including the first increase described above) = 218-230-242-254-266-278 stitches. Work the new stitches into A.1 on the front and back pieces and in stocking stitch on the sleeves. Continue working without further increases until the piece measures 14-15-16-17-18-19 cm from the cast-on edge. Now divide for the body and sleeves on the next round as follows: Place the first 46-48-50-52-54-56 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 5 stitches (= in side under sleeve), work 63-67-71-75-79-83 stitches pattern (= front piece), place the next 46-48-50-52-54-56 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 5 stitches (= in side under sleeve), work the last 63-67-71-75-79-83 stitches in pattern (= back piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! BODY: There are now 136-144-152-160-168-176 stitches on needle. Continue with A.1 over all stitches for 16-19-22-24-27-30 cm (or to desired length; there is 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm left to finished length). Knit 1 round and increase 8-8-8-8-8-8 stitches evenly spaced = 144-152-160-168-176-184 stitches. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm and work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – read CASTING-OFF TIP. Cut and fasten the strand. The jumper measures approx. 36-40-44-48-52-56 cm from the shoulder down. SLEEVES: Place the 46-48-50-52-54-56 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on double pointed needles size 4 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 5 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 51-53-55-57-59-61 stitches. Insert a marker thread in the middle of the 5 stitches under the sleeve. Allow the thread to follow your work onwards; it will be used when decreasing under the sleeve. Start at the marker thread and work stocking stitch in the round for 3 cm. Now decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2-2½-3-3½-4-4½ cm a total of 7 times = 37-39-41-43-45-47 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 20-24-27-31-34-38 cm from the division (or to desired length; there is 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm left to finished length). Knit 1 round where you increase 3-5-3-5-3-5 stitches evenly spaced = 40-44-44-48-48-52 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 3-3-3-4-4-4 cm. Cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl – remember CASTING-OFF TIP! The sleeve measures approx. 23-27-30-35-38-42 cm from the division. Work the other sleeve in the same way. |
