---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next round work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Knit yarn over in loop in front of needle - to avoid holes. AFTER RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the left): Knit yarn overs in loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. INCREASE TIP - rib transition: When increasing stitches evenly in transition for rib, there will be an even increase if you increase where stitches are going to be purled, the stitches in stocking stitch will then continue nicely over into rib. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: To get the decreases on alternately right and left side of marker thread decrease alternately at the beginning and end of decrease round. Decrease at the beginning of round by slipping the first stitch on round, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over (= 1 stitch decreased). Decrease at the end of round by knitting the last 2 stitches on round together (= 1 stitch decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder at the back and work top down with increases for raglan. Cable only on front piece. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 50-50-54-54-58-58-62 stitches on circular needle size 7 mm with 1 strand DROPS Polaris or 2 strands DROPS Snow - make sure not to cast on too tight. Work rib in the round (= knit 1 and purl 1) 8 rounds in total (= approx. 6 cm). Beginning of round is at right shoulder at the back. Insert 1 marker after the first 18-18-19-19-20-20-21 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Insert 4 markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a stitch, these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Raglan stitches are worked in stocking stitch. Insert 1st in first stitch, count 7 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 17-17-19-19-21-21-23 stitches (= front piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 7 stitches (= sleeve), insert 4th marker in next stitch, 15-15-17-17-19-19-21 stitches remain after last marker (= back piece). Switch to double pointed needles/circular needle size 12 mm, work first round as follows: Knit 11-11-12-12-13-13-14, work A.1 (= 13 stitches become 19 stitches), knit the rest of round – NOTE: On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes = 56-56-60-60-64-64-68 stitches on needle. Work stocking stitch and PATTERN in the round and increase for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches - read explanation above on how to increase - work first increase on 2nd round in A.1. When A.1 has been worked vertically, repeat A.1x in height – work the cables only on front piece. Remember to follow the knitting tension! Increase for raglan every other round, increase on each side for raglan stitches 8-10-11-11-12-12-12 times in total = 120-136-148-148-160-160-164 stitches (= 8 stitches increased on every increase row). NOTE! At the beginning of round increase after stitch with 1st marker and at the end of round increase before stitch with 1st marker. Increases for sleeve are now done but continue to increase for raglan on front piece and back piece on every other round 2-1-1-2-2-3-4 more times (= 4 stitches increased on every increase round) = 128-140-152-156-168-172-180 stitches on needle. 8-10-11-11-12-12-12 increases have been done in total on sleeves and 10-11-12-13-14-15-16 times on front piece/back piece. Work in stocking stitch without increase until piece measures 20-21-23-24-26-29-31 cm from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Knit 1 (= this stitch belongs to back piece), slip the next 23-27-29-29-31-31-31 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 4-4-4-6-6-8-10 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 45-47-51-53-57-59-63 stitches in stocking stitch and A.1x as before (= front piece), slip the next 23-27-29-29-31-31-31 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 4-4-4-6-6-8-10 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve) and work the last 36-38-42-44-48-50-54 stitches in stocking stitch (= back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 90-94-102-110-118-126-138 stitches. Insert 1 marker in one side of piece (= in the middle of the 4-4-4-6-6-8-10 stitches that were cast on under sleeve). Work until marker, round begins here and work in the round. Work stocking stitch and A.1x as before until piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from marker mid front. Switch to circular needle size 7 mm, work rib (= knit 1 and purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 16-18-22-24-28-30-34 stitches evenly on 1st round - read INCREASE TIP and make sure that purl stitches in A.1x continue down in rib = 106-112-124-134-146-156-172 stitches. Work 8 rounds rib. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jumper measures 56-58-60-62-64-66-68 cm from marker mid front and approx. 60-62-64-66-68-70-72 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 23-27-29-29-31-31-31 sleeve stitches from one thread on double pointed needles size 12 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 4-4-4-6-6-8-10 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 27-31-33-35-37-39-41 stitches. Insert 1 marker thread in the middle of the 4-4-4-6-6-8-10 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when 1 round has been worked after division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease alternately before and after marker thread, decrease 1 stitch 4-6-8-8-10-10-12 times in total every 10-7-5-5-4-3½-3 cm = 23-25-25-27-27-29-29 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 45-45-43-43-41-39-37 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 7 mm and work rib (= knit 1 and purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 7 stitches evenly on 1st round - remember INCREASE TIP = 30-32-32-34-34-36-36 stitches. Work 8 rounds rib. Cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 51-51-49-49-47-45-43 cm from division. |
