---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN: Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next round work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Knit yarn over in loop in front of needle - to avoid holes. AFTER RAGLAN STITCHES (= twist yarn over towards the left): Knit yarn overs in loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. INCREASE TIP: When increasing stitches evenly in transition for rib, it looks better if you increase where stitches are going to be purled onwards so that the stitches in stocking stitch will continue nicely into rib. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work neck edge and yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder at the back and work top down with increases for raglan. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. NECK EDGE: Cast on 120-128-128-136-144-144-152 stitches on circular needle size 2.5 mm with DROPS Flora. Work rib in the round (= knit 2/purl 2) for 2-2-2½-2½-3-3-3 cm. Knit 1 so that round begins between 2 knit stitches. Beginning of round is at right shoulder at the back. Insert 1 marker after the first 40-42-42-44-46-46-48 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measure piece from this marker. YOKE: Continue with circular needle size 3 mm. Insert 4 markers in piece without working the stitches, insert markers between 2 knit stitches, these 2 stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Insert 1st marker before first stitch, count 20 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker before next stitch, count 40-44-44-48-52-52-56 stitches (= front piece), insert 3rd marker before next stitch, count 20 stitches (= sleeve), insert 4th marker before next stitch, 40-44-44-48-52-52-56 stitches remain after last marker (= back piece). Work in stocking stitch in the round and increase for RAGLAN on each side of raglan stitches - read explanation above for increase method. Remember to follow the knitting tension Increase for raglan every other round, increase on each side for raglan stitches 27-30-34-36-38-38-39 times in total = 336-368-400-424-448-448-464 stitches (= 8 stitches increased on every increase row). NOTE! At the beginning of round increase after first marker and at the end of round increase before last stitch. Increases for sleeve are now done but continue to increase for raglan on front piece and back piece on every other round 6-5-4-6-5-10-12 more times (= 4 stitches increased on every increase round) = 360-388-416-448-468-488-512 stitches on needle. Work in stocking stitch without increase until piece measures 20-21-23-25-26-28-30 cm from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Slip the 74-80-88-92-96-96-98 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-20-24-28 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 106-114-120-132-138-148-158 stitches (= front piece), slip the next 74-80-88-92-96-96-98 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-20-24-28 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work in stocking stitch over the last 106-114-120-132-138-148-158 stitches (= back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 228-248-264-292-316-344-372 stitches. Work in the round in stocking stitch until piece measures 38-40-42-44-46-48-50 cm from marker mid front. Switch to circular needles size 2.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 56-60-64-68-76-80-88 stitches evenly on 1st round - read INCREASE TIP = 284-308-328-360-392-424-460 stitches. When rib measures 3 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Jumper measures 41-43-45-47-49-51-53 cm from marker mid front and approx. 45-47-49-51-53-55-57 cm from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 74-80-88-92-96-96-98 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 3 mm and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-20-24-28 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 82-90-100-106-116-120-126 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-20-24-28 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stocking stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1 cm from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 3-2½-1½-1½-1½-3-4 cm 5-6-7-6-6-3-2 times in total = 72-78-86-94-104-114-122 stitches. Work until sleeve measures 15-14-13-11-10-9-8 cm from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 mm and work rib (= knit 2/purl 2) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 16-18-18-22-24-26-26 stitches evenly on 1st round - remember INCREASE TIP = 88-96-104-116-128-140-148 stitches. When rib measures 3 cm, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Sleeve measures approx. 18-17-16-14-13-12-11 cm from division. |
