Mvh DROPS Design

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RAGLAN (in the round): Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over, which is worked as follows on the next round: BEFORE RAGLAN-STITCH: Slip the yarn-over off the left needle and replace it the other way round (insert the left needle through the back when replacing it). Knit through the front loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. AFTER RAGLAN-STITCH: Knit through the back loop to avoid a hole. Then work the new stitch in stocking stitch. SLEEVE TIP: When knitting up stitches under the sleeve, you can get a small hole in the transition between stitches on the body and sleeve. This hole can be closed by picking up the strand between 2 stitches and working this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of the marker thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches) slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JUMPER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked in the round with circular needle, top down and from the right back shoulder. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The body is divided for the split in each side and the front and back pieces finished separately, back and forth. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. NECK: Cast on 76-76-80-80-84-84-84 stitches with circular needle size 9 mm and DROPS Snow. Change to circular needle size 7 mm (casting on with a larger needle size makes the cast-on edge elastic). Knit 1 round, then work rib (knit 2, purl 2) in the round for 12-12-12-12-13-13-13 cm. YOKE: Insert 4 markers at the same time as decreasing stitches evenly on the round as follows. The markers are inserted into a stitch (the raglan-stitch) and you will be increasing for raglan on each side of these raglan-stitches. Change to circular needle size 9 mm. Knit the first 10-10-10-10-12-12-12 stitches decreasing 2 stitches evenly across these stitches (= approx. half the back piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch (raglan-stitch), knit 17 and decrease 4 stitches evenly ( = sleeve), insert 1 marker in the next stitch (raglan-stitch), knit 19-19-21-21-23-23-23 and decrease 4 stitches evenly (= front piece), insert 1 marker in the next stitch (raglan-stitch), knit 17 and decrease 4 stitches evenly (= sleeve), insert 1 marker in the next stitch (raglan-stitch), knit the last 9-9-11-11-11-11-11 stitches and decrease 2 stitches evenly (= approx. half the back piece) = 60-60-64-64-68-68-68 stitches. The round begins on the right back shoulder. Insert 1 marker after the first 30-30-32-32-34-34-34 stitches (approx. mid-front), the piece is now measured from here. Work stocking stitch and increase for RAGLAN on each side of the raglan-stitches – read explanation above, as follows: ROUND 1: Knit and increase on each side of the raglan-stitches (= 8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit. Work ROUNDS 1 and 2 a total of 5-5-5-6-5-3-5 times (10-10-10-12-10-6-10 rounds worked) = 100-100-104-112-108-92-108 stitches. Remember to maintain the knitting tension. Now increase as follows: ROUND 1: Knit and increase on each side of the raglan-stitches (= 8 increased stitches). ROUND 2: Knit. ROUND 3: Knit and increase for raglan on the front and back pieces – not on the sleeves (= 4 increased stitches). ROUND 4: Knit. Work ROUNDS 1 to 4 a total of 5-6-6-7-8-11-11 times (20-24-24-28-32-44-44 rounds worked: 5-6-6-7-8-11-11 increases in height on the sleeves and 10-12-12-14-16-22-22 increases in height on the front and back pieces) = 160-172-176-196-204-224-240 stitches. All increases for raglan are finished: a total of 15-17-17-20-21-25-27 increases in height on the front and back pieces and 10-11-11-13-13-14-16 increases in height on the sleeves. The yoke measures approx. 23-26-26-31-32-38-42 cm from the marker mid-front. Now divide for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Knit 24-26-26-29-32-36-38 (= approx. half the back piece), place the next 33-35-35-39-39-41-45 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12-12 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit 47-51-53-59-63-71-75 (= front piece), place the next 33-35-35-39-39-41-45 stitches on a thread/stitch holder for the sleeve, cast on 8-8-10-10-12-12-12 stitches (mid-under the sleeve), knit the last 23-25-27-30-31-35-37 stitches (= approx. half the back piece). BODY: = 110-118-126-138-150-166-174 stitches. Insert 1 marker-thread in the middle of the cast-on stitches in each side, which are used later when dividing for the split in each side. Start the round by one marker-thread and continue stocking stitch in the round until the piece measures 39-41-43-45-46-48-50 cm from the marker mid-front. Work the next round as follows: Knit until there are 2 stitches left before the marker-thread, place 2 stitches on the cable needle in front of the piece, knit 2, knit 2 from the cable needle, repeat at the second marker-thread. Now divide in the middle of each cable as follows: Place the last 55-59-63-69-75-83-87 stitches on a stitch holder, knit the first 55-59-63-69-75-83-87 stitches and increase 27-27-31-33-35-35-39 stitches evenly on the first row = 82-86-94-102-110-118-126 stitches. Change to circular needle size 7 mm. Work rib as follows with the first row from the wrong side: * Purl 2, knit 2 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, purl 2. Work this rib back and forth for 12-12-12-12-13-13-13 cm. Cast off. The jumper measures approx. 51-53-55-57-59-61-63 cm from the marker mid-front and 58-60-62-64-66-68-70 cm from the shoulder. Work the back piece in the same way. SLEEVES: Place the 33-35-35-39-39-41-45 sleeve-stitches from one thread/stitch holder on circular needle size 9 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 8-8-10-10-12-12-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve – read SLEEVE TIP = 41-43-45-49-51-53-57 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 8-8-10-10-12-12-12 stitches under the sleeve. Work stocking stitch in the round. AT THE SAME TIME, when the sleeve measures 1 cm from the division, decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP as follows: Decrease 2 stitches every 2nd round 2 times, then decrease 2 stitches every 7-5½-4-3-3-2½-2 cm, 3-4-4-6-6-6-7 times = 31-31-33-33-35-37-39 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 37-35-35-31-29-24-21 cm. Knit 1 round and increase 9-13-11-11-13-11-13 stitches evenly spaced = 40-44-44-44-48-48-52 stitches. Change to double pointed needles size 7 mm. Work rib (knit 2, purl 2), for 10-10-10-10-11-11-11 cm. Cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 47-45-45-41-40-35-32 cm. |
