Clue #4 - Flower Square 4 Sunflower

Here's the 4th clue for our Mystery Blanket CAL in an easy step by step. You can also find two videos for the whole clue at the bottom of this lesson!

Work 4 ch on hook size 3 mm with light turquoise.

ROUND 1: Work 1 dc in 4th ch from hook. (The first 3 ch = 1st dc)

ROUND 1: 11 dc in 4th ch from hook.

ROUND 1: Finish with 1 sl st in 4th ch, pull the yarn end to tighten the loop = 12 dc.

ROUND 2: 3 ch (= 1st dc), 1 dc in same dc, 2 dc in every dc the entire round = 24 dc. Finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round - READ COLOR CHANGE = 24 dc. Cut the yarn.

COLOR CHANGE:

When changing color work as follows: Before last pull through of last loop on hook, switch color, pull the last loop on hook through with the new color.

ROUND 3: Switch to turquoise. * 1 sl st in first dc, 5 ch.

ROUND 3: 1 hdc in 2nd ch from hook.

ROUND 3: Work 1 hdc in each of the next 3 ch (= 4 hdc), 1 sl st in same dc.

Complete description of ROUND 3: Switch to turquoise. * 1 sl st in first/next dc, 5 ch, 1 hdc in 2nd ch from hook, then work 1 hdc in each of the next 3 ch (= 4 hdc), 1 sl st in same dc *, repeat *-* in every dc the entire round finish with 1 sl st in 1st sl st on round - READ COLOUR CHANGE = 24 leaves. Cut the yarn.

The flower is done. Now work the square.

ROUND 1: Switch to white and turn piece. From WS work 1 sl st in front loop of first dc from round 2 of flower.

ROUND 1: 4 ch, skip 3 dc, 1 sl st in front loop of next dc from round 2 of flower.

Complete description of ROUND 1: Switch to white and turn piece. From WS work * 1 sl st in front loop of first/next dc from round 2 of flower, 4 ch, skip 3 dc,* repeat from *-* the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in 1st sl st on round = 6 ch-spaces.

ROUND 2: Turn piece. From RS 1 sl st in first chspace, 3 ch (= 1 dc), 3 dc in same ch-space.

ROUND 2: Work * (2 dc, 2 ch, 4 dc) in next chspace, (4 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc) in next ch-space *, 4 dc in next ch-space repeat from *-* 1 more time, and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round. = 32 dc, 4 ch-spaces.

ROUND 3: 3 ch (= 1 dc), work 1 dc in every dc until 2 ch-loop in each corner, work (2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc) in each corner around the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round = 48 dc, 4 ch-spaces.

ROUND 4: 3 ch (= 1 dc), work 1 dc in every dc until 2 ch-loop in each corner, work (2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc) in each corner around the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round = 64 dc, 4 ch-spaces.

ROUND 5: 1 ch (= 1 sc), skip 1st dc, work 1 sc in every dc until 2 ch in each corner, work (1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sc) in each corner around entire round. Finish with 1 sl st in first sc from beg of round = 72 sc and 4 hdc around entire square. Cut the yarn.

One Sunflower square finished, measuring approx 9,5 x 9,5 cm. Fasten off and work 5 squares in total the same way in the same colors - or use the colors you like.
