This method of crochet chains at the bottom of your work let you create live loops that can be picked up afterward and be worked down, e.g. cuffs, lace borders etc.
Use a crochet hook and crochet sts upon a needle. Start with a slip knot.
After required sts are on the needle, don't pass the last loop onto the needle but chain a couple of extra sts and then pull loop a bit long through last stitch. This is the thread you will pull later to unzip the crochet sts.

Bonjour Mireille, vous pouvez procéder exactement de la même façon, quand vous relevez les mailles avec l'aiguille tricotez les soit toutes à l'endroit/à 'l'envers (en fonction du rendu souhaité) ou bien tricotez-les déjà au point de riz. Bon tricot!

In this DROPS video, we show you how to work each front piece with diagonal shoulders and short rows, the piece is worked bottom up. Then we show how to increase stitches for the neckline and join the shoulders for the back piece, then continue working top down. An I-cord band is worked on each side. We have already worked one section of the front piece and decreased stitches for the neckline. The video shows how we work 6 short rows (German short rows) on the right front piece, creating a diagonal shoulder. Then we show how to increase 1 stitch 3 times towards the neckline, which is now the back piece. Then we show the same for the left shoulder and finally cast on 12 stitches between the shoulders before the shoulders are knitted together. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. This technique is used among other things in pattern DROPS 255-9, Driftwood Vest, with a different stitch count, number of short rows and cast-on stitches.
