GARTER STITCH (back and forth):
1 ridge = knit 2 rows.

Work 6 rows over all stitches. *Work 30 stitches (until first marker), turn, tighten yarn and work back. Work 1 row over all stitches, turn, work 30 stitches (until the other marker), turn, tighten yarn and work back. Work 5 rows over all stitches *, repeat from *-*.
1 repetition with short rows = 6 rows (= 3 ridges) over the middle 35-48-62 stitches and 8 rows (4 ridges) over stitches in each side.

See diagrams A.1 and A.2. NOTE: At the end of row 10 in A.1 and at the end of row 11 in A.2 cast on 5 new stitches. On row 13 in A.1 work only the first 13 stitches in diagram, turn and work 13 stitches. On row 12 in A.2 work only the first 13 stitches in diagram, turn and work 13 stitches. NOTE! The turns in A.1 and A.2 comes in addition to the short rows.

Work piece back and forth on circular needle. Cast-on edge is at the bottom of one sleeve and cast-off edge is at the bottom of the other sleeve. When finished fold the bolero double and sew sleeve and side seams.

Cast on 45-50-52 stitches on circular needle size 5 mm with 1 strand of each yarn (= 2 strands). Work in GARTER STITCH - see explanation above. When sleeve measures 2 cm, increase 1 stitch in each side, increase every 2 cm 5 times in total = 55-60-62 stitches. When sleeve measures 10 cm, cast on 20-24-30 new stitches in each side for right side seam = 95-108-122 stitches. Insert 2 markers in piece, 30 stitches in from each side (= 35-48-62 stitches between markers). Work as follows - from right side: A.1 over the first 17 stitches, GARTER STITCH – see explanation above, over the next 61-74-88 stitches, A.2 over the last 17 stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION Continue with garter stitch in the middle and pattern over the outermost 17 stitches in each side – see explanation above – AT THE SAME TIME work SHORT ROWS – see explanation above! When piece measures approx. 58-74-82 cm (measure in the middle of piece, including sleeve) cast off 20-24-30 stitches in each side = left side seam = 55-60-62 stitches. Now work left sleeve. Continue with garter stitch, when piece measures 2 cm after cast off, decrease 1 stitch in each side, decrease every 2 cm 5 times in total = 45-50-52 stitches. Cast off when piece measures 68-84-92 cm from cast-on edge.

Fold the bolero double – chart shows piece when it is folded. Sew sleeve seam and sew together the 20-24-30 stitches in each side.

= knit from the right side, purl from the wrong side
= purl from the right side, knit from the wrong side

MYRIAM 11.11.2018 - 17:01:

Joyce Torbert 15.02.2018 - 15:03:

What do I do after Row 14? The number of stitches on Row 1 are different so I assume I don't continue the pattern with Row 1 as shown on A-1 & A-2.

DROPS Design 15.02.2018 kl. 16:17:

Dear Mrs Torbert, at the end of row 10 in A.1 and row 11 in A.2 you have to cast on 5 new sts, then on row 13 in A.1 work the 13 first sts in diagram and work return row - read more under PATTERN. Happy knitting!

Bernet 29.01.2018 - 20:00:

Bon tricot!

Lorna 25.01.2018 - 03:22:

The 30 stitches for the short row, are they the original 30 stitches including the 17 for the pattern stitches which after 6 rows are 27 stitches? 30 stitches takes me beyond the markers. Thanks

DROPS Design 25.01.2018 kl. 08:28:

Dear Lorna, after you have casting off 20-24-30 new sts on each side, you have inserted 2 markers 30 sts in each side (= 35-48-62 sts between markers). When working the short rows, *work from RS to 1st marker (= after the first 30 sts on needle = 1st marker from RS), then work return row, work next row over all sts, work next row to the 2nd marker (1st marker from WS), turn and work return row. Work 5 rows over all sts*. Happy knitting!
