CROCHET INFO:
ROUNDS WITH DC: Beg every dc round with ch 3, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round (these ch are not counted in no of dc).
ROUNDS WITH SC: Beg every round with sc with 1 ch and finish with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round.

CROCHET SC TOG:
Insert hook in first sc and pull yarn through, insert hook in next sc and pull yarn through, make a YO and pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook.

COLOR CHANGE:
To get a nice transition between the color changes, work last sl st on round with the new color as follows: Insert hook in last ch from beg of round, get the new yarn, make a YO with the new color and pull it through st on hook.

REVERSE CROCHET:
Work as sc but backwards. I.e. crochet around from left to right
----------------------------------------------------------

TABLE COASTER:
Worked in the round. Work 4 ch on hook size 3 mm / C with red and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: READ CROCHET INFO! Work 12 dc in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc = 24 dc.
ROUND 3: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 36 dc. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE!
ROUND 4: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 48 dc.
ROUND 5: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 60 dc.
ROUND 6: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 72 dc.
ROUND 7: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 5 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 84 dc.
ROUND 8: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 6 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 96 dc.
ROUND 9: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 7 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 108 dc.

ROUND 11: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 9 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 132 dc.
ROUND 12: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 10 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round AT THE SAME TIME insert 4 markers in piece, 36 dc apart = 144 dc. Markers indicate legs and arms worked later. NOTE: If you want a larger table coaster, continue with inc the same way (i.e. there is 1 dc more between every inc per round).
ROUND 13: * 2 REVERSE CROCHET - see explanation above, in first dc, 1 reverse crochet in each of the next 11 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 156 reverse crochet. Fasten off.

HEAD + HAT:
Worked in the round. Crochet 5 ch on hook size 3 mm / C with light peach and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.

Now work beg of beard with white (NOTE: Do not cut light peach strand, this is used later) as follows: * Work 1 sc in front loop of next st, ch 1, skip 1 sc *, repeat from *-* 9 more times (i.e. over the next 20 sc), finish with 1 sc in next sc. Fasten off. Then continue with light peach. NOTE: Now work 1st round in back loop of last round with light peach over the first 20 sts.
Work 6 rounds with 1 sc in every sc. Switch to white - READ COLOR CHANGE! To get a thick edge at the bottom of hat work 1 round as follows (replace first dc with 3 ch): * 1 dc in first sc, but wait with last pull through, work 1 dc more in same sc, but on last pull through, pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook *, repeat from *-* the entire round and finish round with 1 sl st in first st, switch color to red. Now measure piece from here.
Then work 1 sc in every st until piece measures 3 cm / 1'', fill head with poly stuffing before continuing. Work next round as follows: * 7 sc, skip 1 sc *, repeat from *-* = 35 sc. Work 1 round with 1 sc in every sc. Work next round as follows: * 6 sc, skip 1 sc *, repeat from *-* = 30 sc. Work 1 round with 1 sc in every sc. Buongiorno!

Buon lavoro!
