CROCHET TIP:
Beg each round with ch 1 and finish with 1 sl st in ch from beg of round. Turn each row with 1 ch.

CHICKEN BOOK MARK:
Crochet the head first, then continue with body and finish with the wings and the legs. Crochet with 1 strand Alpaca and crochet hook size 2.5 mm/C/2.
HEAD:
Ch 4 with goldenrod and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: 8 sc in ch-ring – see CROCHET TIP!
ROUND 2: 2 sc in each sc = 16 sc.
ROUND 3: * 1 sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* = 24 sc.
ROUND 4: * 1 sc in each of the first 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* = 32 sc.
Crochet 8 rounds with 1 sc in each sc.
REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE!
ROUND 13: * 3 sc, skip 1 sc *, repeat from *-* = 24 sc.
ROUND 14: * 2 sc, skip 1 sc *, repeat from *-* = 16 sc.
ROUND 15: * 1 sc, skip 1 sc *, repeat from *-* = 8 sc.
Fill a little stuffing in the head and crochet the opening at bottom tog by working 4 sc through both layers – do not cut the thread but continue with the body.
BODY:
Continue with goldenrod back and forth. Work 1 row with 2 sc in each sc = 8 sc.
Now work 1 sc in each sc, but on every other row inc 1 sc each side by working 2 sc in the outermost sc until there are 18 sc on row. Work 6 rows with 1 sc in each sc.
Now dec 1 sc each side on every other row by skipping the last but one sc each side until there are 8 sc left on row, cut the thread.
WING:
Work 1 sc with goldenrod in 2nd row on left side of body (crochet from RS), and continue with 12 loose ch.
Turn, skip first ch, work 1 sl st in 2nd ch and then 1 sc in each of the last 10 ch, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd row on body.
Turn with 1 ch and work 1 sc in each of the first 9 sc.
Turn with 1 ch and work return row as follows (1 st in each st): skip first st, 1 sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sc, 1 tr in each of the last 3 sc, 1 sl st in 6th row on body, cut the thread.
Crochet a similar wing on the other side of body – NOTE: Beg from WS in order the wing turns the right way.
LEG:
Work 1 sc with orange in 2nd sc on the bottom row on body, and continue with 35 loose ch.
Turn, skip first ch, 1 sc in each of the remaining ch, and finish with 1 sl st in body. Turn with 1 ch and work 1 sc in each sc.
Do not cut the thread, but continue with the foot.
FOOT:
Continue with orange, ch 3, then 3 dc at the bottom of leg. Turn, ch 3 and then 2 dc in each dc and 2 dc in 3rd ch from beg of previous row. Turn and continue as follows:
ch 1, 1 sc in first dc, ch 1, * in next dc crochet: (1 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1 and 1 dc), ch 1, 1 sc in each of the next 2 dc *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, but the last time only work 1 sc in the last dc. Cut and fasten thread.
Crochet leg and foot in the same way on the other side of body.
COMB:
Crochet 7 sc with orange at the top of head. Turn with 1 ch and continue as follows: 1 sc in first sc, * ch 1, in next sc work: (1 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1, 1 dc), then ch 1, 1 sc in next sc *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, cut and fasten thread.
BEAK:
Ch 6 with orange, then work 1 tr in 4th ch from hook but wait with the last pull-through, work 1 tr in next ch, but wait with last pull-through, work 1 tr in the last ch and when doing the last pull-through pull thread through all 4 loops on hook, ch 4 and finish with 1 sl st at bottom of ch-row.
Now crochet in the same way on the other side of ch-row, i.e. as follows: ch 3, 1 tr in each of the 3 ch (from the very beg), but wait with last pull-through on each of them, then ch 4, and finish with 1 sl st in the same ch in which the last tr was crochet.
Cut the thread.
FACE:
Sew the beak to the middle of head in ch-row with beak being open and pointing outwards.
Embroider eyes on with black.
Steam iron piece lightly in order legs and wings are flattened.
