Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. CROCHET TIP-1:
Replace first dc on each round with 3 ch and finish each round with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round.

CROCHET TIP-2:
Replace first dc on each row with 3 ch.

PATTERN:
See diagram M.1A and M.1B. Work 1 repeat of M.1A at the beg of round and complete round in M.1B.
--------------------------------------------------------

BAG:
Work 6 ch with crochet hook size 4 mm / G/6 and Bomull-Lin and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: 20 dc in ring – SEE CROCHET TIP-1!
ROUND 2: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* a total of 10 times = 30 dc. REMEMBER CROCHET GAUGE!
ROUND 3: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 2 dc *, repeat from *-* a total of 10 times = 40 dc.
ROUND 4: * 2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc *, repeat from *-* a total of 10 times = 50 dc.
ROUND 5 - 10: Continue as before, AT THE SAME TIME continue inc 10 dc per round as before = 110 dc.
ROUND 11: 1 dc in each dc, AT THE SAME TIME inc 2 dc evenly on round = 112 dc.
ROUND 12 - 18: 1 dc in each dc (no inc).

Now continue in Fan pattern as follows:
1 ch, 1 sc in first dc, * skip 3 dc, in next dc work 9 tr (= 1 Fan), skip 3 dc, 1 sc in next dc *, repeat from *-* a total of 14 times, but the last time finish with 1 sl st in first sc = 14 Fans on round.
Continue in M.1A and M.1B – see explanation above. Repeat M.1A and M.1B until there is a total of 10 vertical Fans on bag. Cut and fasten thread.

STRAP:
Work 8 ch with crochet hook size 4 mm / G/6 and Bomull-Lin. Work 1 dc in the 4th ch from hook, and 1 dc in each of the next 4 ch = 6 dc. Continue back and forth with 1 dc in each dc – SEE CROCHET TIP-2! Continue like this until strap measures approx 60 cm / 23 5/8”. Make one more strap in the same way. * Sew one end to the top of a Fan, skip 3 Fans, sew the other end to the top of the next Fan *. Skip 2 Fans and repeat from *-* with the other strap. Fasten thread ends.

I cannot figure out the row after the fans - after 7 chains what? In diagram dtr, but in comment you write tr.

DROPS Design 03.04.2018 kl. 08:48:

Dear Helen, previous question has been answered with US-crochet terminology, where a dtr (UK-crochet terminology) is a tr (US-crochet terminology). Happy crocheting!

Judith Thompson 24.01.2015 - 10:33:

I cannot figure out the row after the fans - I see the V stitch but then what? 7 chains? Doesn't seen enough?

DROPS Design 26.01.2015 kl. 09:32:

Dear Mrs Thompson, on row 2 and 4 in diag, start with 4 ch, 1 tr in sl st from previous row, 7 ch, *in next sc work 1 tr, 1 ch, 1 tr, 7 ch*, repeat from *-* around and join with a sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Happy crocheting!

Antje Schupp 06.07.2014 - 23:31:

Bon crochet!

Mary 13.04.2014 - 10:30:

Hi! I'm so excited to start making this bag! I do have one question though, I haven't followed a pattern like this before and I'm confused by the explanation of rounds 5-11 saying at the same time increase by x amount. Could you please explain in further detail?

DROPS Design 14.04.2014 kl. 09:07:

Dear Mary, from round 5 you continue as before with inc, ie, Rd 5 will be worked as follows: *2 dc in first dc, 1 dc in each of the next 4 dc* repeat from *-*, Rd 6:*2 dc in first dc, 1 dc each of the next 5 dc*, and so on, you will have 1 more dc between 2 inc on each inc round. Happy crocheting!

Barbara Miller 05.06.2013 - 17:38:

FYI, I boldly went where I'd never gone before and got it done. I have been crocheting for about 50 years and never had used a chart. Now I understand them and whole new world of opportunities is open for me. I modified the straps to a sling because that's what my daughter wanted and she LOVES it. Now I'm making one for myself. Thanks! Your patterns really rock. I was so initimidated by the chart and you've helped me get over my fears.

Barbara Miller 20.05.2013 - 05:11:

I was wondering if there are written instructions for the fan portion of this bag. Or a tutorial on how to do it. I cannot make sense of the chart. Thanks.

DROPS Design 21.05.2013 kl. 10:18:

Dear Mrs Miller, there are no written instruction for the fan portion but you'll find above the diagrams all diagram texts to figure out how to work the diagrams. Happy crocheting!

Marjan 09.01.2013 - 12:19:

Marjan 04.01.2013 - 16:40:

Lijkt me een prachtige tas! Alvast bedankt!

José 04.01.2013 kl. 19:31:

Hallo Marjan, kies NIET afdrukken patroon.
