Knitting tension: 14 sts x 19 rows on needles size 7 mm with Symphony or Melody in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm

Garter sts back and forth: Knit on all rows.

Increasing tips: Inc. inside 4 front band sts as follows: Make a yo, on the following row twist and knit the yo (To twist, knit into back of st instead of the front of st).

Decreasing tips (apply for the neck shaping):
All dec are done from the RS!

Dec as follows after 4 garter sts: K2 sts twisted tog.
Dec as follows before 4 sts of garter sts: K2 tog.

Back piece: Cast on 50-52-55-58-60 sts (incl. 1 edge st each side) on circular needles size 7 mm with Symphony or Melody. Knit 4 rows of garter sts back and forth on needle and then continue in stocking sts. When the piece measures 4 cm cast off 1 st each side on every 5th cm a total of 2-2-2-3-3 times = 46-48-51-52-54 sts. When the piece measures 21-23-25-27-28 cm cast on loosely new sts on every other row each side for the sleeves (i.e. at the end of each row): 2 sts 2-2-2-2-4 times, 3 sts 3-2-3-1-0 times, 4 sts 1-3-3-5-5 times and 6 sts 1 time = 92-104-113-118-122 sts. Knit the 4 outer most sts each side of the sleeves in garter sts. When the piece measures 36-39-42-45-48 cm cast off the mid 10-10-11-12-12 sts for the neck. On next row dec 1 st towards neck = 40-46-50-52-54 sts left for each shoulder/sleeve. Cast off when the piece measures 38-41-44-47-50 cm.

Left front: Cast on 21-22-23-25-26 sts (incl. 1 edge st at the side and 4 front band sts mid front) on needle size 7 mm with Symphony or Melody. Knit 4 rows of garter sts.
Please read all of the next section before knitting it:
Knit in stocking sts with the 4 front band sts in garter st. At the same time inc. 1 st towards the mid front on every other row a total of 7-7-8-8-8 times – read increasing tips. At the same time when the piece measures 4 cm cast off at side as done for the back piece. At the same time when the piece measures 20-22-24-26-28 cm dec. 1 st for the v-neck towards the mid front on every 2nd row 9-9-10-11-11 times – read Decreasing tips – And at the same time when the piece measures 21-23-25-27-28 cm inc. at the sides for sleeves as done for the back piece (remember the 4 outer most sts on the sleeves are knitted in garter sts). = 40-46-50-52-54 sts left on each shoulder/sleeve. Cast off when the piece measures 38-41-44-47-50 cm.

Right front piece: Knit as left front piece but reverse.

Assembly: Sew the shoulder/sleeve seams tog. Loosely. Sew the side and the seams underneath the sleeves loosely tog. inside the edge st.

Crochet edge: Crochet an edge using hook size 3.5 mm with Muskat around all of the cardigan (i.e. down along the left front, around the bottom edge of the back and front pieces and up along the other front, around the neck and at the bottom edge of the sleeves)
as follows: 1 dc in the first st, *4 ch, 1 htr in the first ch crochet, 1 dc in the same st, 2 ch, skip over approx. 1 cm and 1 dc in the next ch*, repeat from *-* and finish with 1 sl st in the first dc.

Crochet string: Crochet 3 ch (incl of 1 ch to turn with). Turn - 5 dc in the 2nd ch. Now crochet in ch’s for approx. 50 cm. Turn. Skip 1 ch, 5 dc in the next ch and finish with a sl st. Cut and sew the thread. Pull the string through the crochet edge - beg. at the point where the dec. starts.

Terrie McGill 13.03.2015 - 14:29:

There seems to be an error in the number of back neck decreases in this pattern and I don't see a correction. 104 stitches, decrease 10, results in 47 stitches per side OR 12 neck decreases, results in 46 stitches per side .

DROPS Design 14.03.2015 kl. 12:25:

Dear Mrs McGill, one decrease is missing, you dec 1 st towards neckline and get then 46 sts for each shoulder - pattern will be edited. Thank you. Happy knitting!

Cecile 20.02.2014 - 15:02:

Peut on utiliser des aiguilles normales. separées.

DROPS Design 20.02.2014 kl. 15:48:

Bon tricot!

Katha 10.07.2012 - 20:55:

DROPS Design 09.01.2012 - 09:44:

Which size are you working on?

Tara Nielsen 08.01.2012 - 02:31:

For the neck decrease in the back, the amount to cast off at the mid does not result in the desired number of stitches per shoulder/sleeve. It is off by two stitches (or one stitch per side).
