------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows, from both the right and wrong side. 1 ridge in height = knit 2 rows. BANDS WITH I-CORD: START OF ROW: Work the band as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise, with yarn in front, knit 1, work 5 garter stitches. END OF ROW: Work the band as follows: Work until there are 7 stitches left on the row, work 5 garter stitches, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with yarn in front, knit 1. Work like this from both the right and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Work the buttonholes on the right band from the right side; work the last 4 stitches on the row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with strand in front, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Knit the yarn over to leave a hole. The first buttonhole is worked when the rib on the neck is finished. The other 4-5-5-5-5-5 buttonholes are worked with 10-8½-9-9-9½-10 cm between each one. The bottom buttonhole is worked in the transition between the body and the rib. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Choose diagram for your size. The diagrams show the pattern from the right side. DECREASE TIP (for sleeves): Decrease 2 stitches on the round by decreasing on each side of the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 stitches left before the marker-thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker-thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knit-wise, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- JACKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE. The pattern uses both long and short needles; start with the length which fits the number of stitches and change when necessary. The neck and yoke are worked back and forth with circular needle, from mid front and top down. When the yoke is finished it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued back and forth while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked in the round, top down. NECK: Cast on 103-107-111-115-119-123 stitches with circular needle size 4 mm and DROPS Air. Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Now work rib as follows: ROW 1 (right side): Work 7 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD – read description above, rib (knit 1 twisted, purl 1) until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1 twisted and work 7 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD. ROW 2 (wrong side): Work 7 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD – read description above, rib (purl 1 twisted, knit 1) until there are 8 stitches left, purl 1 twisted and work 7 stitches according to BANDS WITH I-CORD. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the neck measures 4-4-4-5-5-5 cm, finishing after a row from the wrong side. Insert 1 marker mid-back; the yoke is measured from here. YOKE: Change to circular needle size 5 mm. Work stocking stitch and the bands as before, at the same time on the first row increase 12-16-16-16-16-16 stitches evenly spaced (do not increase over the bands) = 115-123-127-131-135-139 stitches. When the yoke measures 2-2-3-3-3-3 cm from the marker, work PATTERN – read description above, as follows: REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Work 7 band stitches, row 1 in A.1 (25-27-28-29-30-31 times in width) until there are 8 stitches left, 1 stocking stitch and 7 band stitches (= 50-54-56-58-60-62 increased stitches) = 165-177-183-189-195-201 stitches. Work 7 band stitches, row 2 in A.1 and decrease 4-2-1-0-1-2 stitches evenly spaced (do not decrease over the bands and decrease by purling 2 together), finish with 7 band stitches = 161-175-182-189-194-199 stitches. Work stocking stitch (bands as before) until the yoke measures 7-7-8-8-9-9 cm from the marker. Work 7 band stitches, row 1 in A.2 (21-23-24-29-36-37 times in width) until there are 7-7-7-8-7-7 stitches left, 0-0-0-1-0-0 stocking stitches and 7 band stitches (= 42-46-48-58-72-74 increased stitches) = 203-221-230-247-266-273 stitches. Work 7 band stitches, row 2 in A.2 and decrease 0-0-0-4-0-0 stitches evenly spaced (do not decrease over the bands and decrease by purling 2 together), 7 band stitches = 203-221-230-243-266-273 stitches. Work stocking stitch (bands as before) until the yoke measures 13-14-14-16-16-17 cm from the marker. Work 7 band stitches, row 1 in A.3 (21-23-24-38-36-43 times in width) until there are 7-7-7-8-7-8 stitches left, 0-0-0-1-0-1 stocking stitches and 7 band stitches (= 42-46-48-76-72-86 increased stitches) = 245-267-278-319-338-359 stitches. Work 7 band stitches, row 2 in A.3 and adjust the stitch count to 246-270-286-320-336-356 stitches. Work stocking stitch (bands as before) until the yoke measures 20-22-23-24-26-28 cm from the marker. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work the first 41-45-47-51-55-59 stitches as before (= front piece), place the next 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches (= in side under sleeve), work 68-76-80-90-98-106 stitches (= back piece), place the next 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches on 1 thread for the sleeve, cast on 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches (= in side under sleeve), work the last 41-45-47-51-55-59 stitches as before (= front piece). The body and sleeves are finished separately. The piece is now measured from here! BODY: = 162-178-190-208-228-248 stitches. Continue with stocking stitch (bands as before) until the body measures 21-21-22-21-21-21 cm from the division. Knit 1 row from the right side and increase 19-19-21-23-25-27 stitches evenly spaced (do not increase over the bands) = 181-197-211-231-253-275 stitches. Change to circular needle size 4 mm and work rib as follows: ROW 1 (wrong side): 7 band stitches, * purl 1 twisted, knit 1 *, work from *-* until there are 8 stitches left, purl 1 twisted and 7 band stitches. ROW 2 (right side): 7 band stitches, * knit 1 twisted, purl 1 *, *, work from *-* until there are 8 stitches left, knit 1 twisted and 7 band stitches. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the rib measures 6-6-6-7-7-7 cm. Cast off a little loosely. The jacket measures approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm from the shoulder. SLEEVES: Place the 48-52-56-64-64-66 stitches from the thread on the one side of the piece on short circular needle/double pointed needles size 5 mm and knit up 1 stitch in each of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches cast on under the sleeve = 54-58-64-72-74-78 stitches. Insert a marker-thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-8-10-12 stitches under the sleeve, which is used when decreasing under the sleeve. Start at the marker-thread and work stocking stitch in the round. When the sleeve measures 3 cm from the division, decrease 2 stitches under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this every 2½-2½-2-1-1-1 cm a total of 5-5-6-10-10-11 times = 44-48-52-52-54-56 stitches. Continue working until the sleeve measures 32-31-30-29-28-26 cm from the division (approx. 9-9-9-10-10-10 cm left). Change to double pointed needles size 4 mm and work rib (knit 1 twisted, purl 1) AT THE SAME TIME as you increase 6-6-6-8-8-8 stitches evenly on the first round = 50-54-58-60-62-64 stitches. When the rib measures 9-9-9-10-10-10 cm, cast off. The sleeve measures approx. 41-40-39-39-38-36 cm from the division. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons onto the left band. |
