For the garter stitch pattern, where 1 ridge = 2 rounds, is 1 ridge = K1 round, P1 round, K1 round, P1 round, as the pattern suggests? Or is 1 ridge just = K1 round, P1 round? Thanks. Beautiful pattern!

Dear Mrrs Rohde, 1 ridge = 2 rounds, ie K1 round + P1 round. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Made this poncho and absolutely love it! Just what I was hoping for. Made the large size even though I am petite. I was concerned the neck opening was too small and wanted it to look like the picture. It is definitely not too large. Used size 13 needles to get gauge. Looks like the picture!

GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle): * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds. BLACKBERRY PATTERN: When this pattern is worked in the round, RS will be on the inside of piece. I.e. that poncho is worked with WS outwards and then turned inside out when done. ROUND 1: * P 1, K 3 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. ROUND 2: * Work 3 sts in same st as follows: K 1, P 1, K 1, then P the next 3 sts tog *, repeat from *-*. ROUND 3: * K 3, P 1 *, repeat from *-*. ROUND 4: * P 3 tog, then work 3 sts in next st as follows: K 1, P 1, K 1 *, repeat from *-*. Repeat 1st-4th round, adjust to finish after 2nd or 4th round. ---------------------------------------------------------- PONCHO: Worked in the round on circular needle, top down. Cast on 70-78-84 sts on circular needle size 8 mm with 1 thread Cloud or Snow or 2 threads Air. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME inc 14-14-16 sts evenly = 84-92-100 sts. Insert 1 marker at beg of round (= mid back). Then work BLACKBERRY PATTERN - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! When piece measures 14-16-16 cm, * K 1 round AT THE SAME TIME inc 30-30-32 sts evenly * = 114-122-132 sts. P 1 round, K 1 round and P 1 round. Repeat from *-* 1 more time = 144-152-164 sts. Continue with blackberry pattern until piece measures 26-30-31 cm. K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME inc 28 sts evenly in all sizes = 172-180-192 sts. P 1 round, K 1 round, P 1 round and K 1 round. Continue with blackberry pattern until piece measures 40-44-48 cm. Work 2 ridges and cast off with K. NOTE: Remember to turn the poncho inside out so that the pattern is on RS before fastening the yarn. |
