SQUARE: Crochet 6 ch with off-white and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1 (off-white): 3 ch, 2 tr in ring, * 3 ch, 3 tr *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. ROUND 2 (light beige mix): 3 ch, 2 tr in first ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-loop, * 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-loop *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. ROUND 3 (tan): 3 ch, 2 tr in first ch-loop, * 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-loop, 3 tr in next ch-loop, *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, 3 tr in next ch-loop, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-loop, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. SIZE 35/37: square measures approx 12 x 12 cm. SIZE 38/40: square measures approx 15 x 15 cm. ASSEMBLY: Crochet 8 squares for each slipper and sew them tog, edge to edge as shown in fig-1. Fig-2 shows the slipper after it has been sewn tog – NOTE: by arrows in fig-2 (i.e. in corner mid upper foot and in corner mid back on heel) do not sew tog the ch-loops, i.e. leave a small opening, otherwise it will be difficult to put the slipper on. FELTING: The piece can be felted either in the washing machine or the tumble dryer – read description below. Remember: Subsequent washes are as for a normal wool garment. IN WASHING MACHINE: Washing machines will vary when felting. If the piece is not felted enough, it can be felted again. If it is felted too much, it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in the washing machine, using a programme of approx. 40 minutes (not a wool programme). Wash at 40 degrees without pre-wash, detergent is optional. After washing, shape the piece while it is still wet. IN TUMBLE DRYER: Felting in a tumble dryer gives good control over the degree of felting. The tumble dryer can be opened during drying to check the size of the piece. If it is not felted enough it can be thoroughly wetted and felted again. If it is felted too much it can be stretched to the correct size while still wet. DO THE FOLLOWING: Lay the piece in water so it becomes completely wet, then place it in the tumble dryer and begin the drying process. Dry to the desired size, checking regularly. |
