Pattern says cast on 80 sts with 2 threads do you use two throughout pattern?

Robin, just fold it so you are able to cast on around both points. This is to create a loose cast on. You can also use an extra needle if you have another one, or make sure to cast on very loose.

When you say fold the circular needle double and cast on 80 sts using both ends what do you mean? fold the needle in half?

Knitting Tension: 19 sts x 25 rows on needles size 4 mm with 2 threads Alpaca in stocking sts = 10 x 10 cm. Rib: *K2, P3*, repeat from *-*. Increasing tips: Inc after 2 knitted sts by picking up st from previous row and P this into back of st to avoid making a hole. Make the next inc just before 2 knitted sts so that the inc are alternated to the right and to the left of the P sections. Neck warmer: Knitted round from the top down. Fold the circular needle size 4 mm double and cast on 80 sts using both ends (to make sure the edge becomes elastic) with 2 threads Alpaca. Remove 1 end/needle and knit 1 round, purl 1 round and knit 1 round. Now continue in Rib. When piece measures 12 cm inc all P3 to P4 – see Increasing tips = 96 sts. Knit 1 round in Rib and inc all P4 to P5 on next round. Now inc 1 st in all P sections on every 4th round a total of 4 times and on every 6th round a total of 2 times - piece measures approx 22 cm. Knit 1 round, purl 1 round, knit 1 round and cast off loosely – to make sure the edge becomes elastic make a yo after every 12 sts whilst casting off and cast of the yo’s as sts. Crochet border: Crochet a border round the bottom and top edges with crochet hook size 3.5 mm and Cotton Viscose as follows: 1 dc in the first st, *4 ch, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st*, repeat from *-* and finish with 4 ch and 1 edge st in first dc from beg of round. Flower: Crochet 4 ch on crochet hook size 3.5 mm with Cotton Viscose and form a ring with a sl st. 1st round: 1 dc in ring, *2 ch, 1 dc in ring*, repeat from *-* a total of 6 times and finish with 2 ch and a sl st in the first dc from beg of round = 7 ch-loops. 2nd round: 1 ch and crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 dc, 3 tr and 1 dc. Finish with 1 sl st in first dc from beg of round. Turn the piece and finish the flower from the back. 3rd round: 1 ch, *1 dc round dc from 1st round, 4 ch*, repeat from *-* a total of 7 times and finish with a sl st in the first dc from beg of round. 4th round: 1 ch and crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 dc, 1 ch, 5 tr, 1 ch, 1 dc. Finish with 1 sl st in the first dc from beg of round. Change to Alpaca. 5th round: *1 dc round dc from 3rd round, 5 ch*, repeat from *-* a total of 7 times and finish with a sl st in the first dc from beg of round. 6th round: 1 ch and crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 dc, 1 ch, 7 tr, 1 ch, 1 dc. Finish with 1 sl st in the first dc from beg of round. Change back to Cotton Viscose. 7th round: *1 dc round dc from 5th round, 5 ch*, repeat from *-* a total of 7 times and finish with a sl st in the first dc from beg of round. 8th round: 1 ch and crochet as follows in each ch-loop: 1 dc, 1 ch, 7 tr, 1 ch, 1 dc. Finish with 1 sl st in the first dc from beg of round. Cut the thread and sew. Sew on a small safety pin and attach to neck warmer. |
